Can anyone help me find the article or video that says that Caddy installed this little hop? I have some people trying to tell me that this hop was a thing prior to Caddy...

Yet I know for a fact I saw during the preseason it was a caddy thing. I've spent the last almost 2 hours trying to find anything that verifies this is a Caddy thing.

Can anyone help me find verification about this please? I know I saw this was a caddy thing...

This has been done since Malzahn got to Auburn......as OC.

Regardless of who started it, why is it being done? The RBs only seem to do it when it's a designed run with the RB getting the handoff. QB might as well announce the play at the line, before the snap.

I liken it to basketball when you hesitate for a split second before you make your cut. It can throw off the defender on which way your cutting

No it has not.

I know for a fact I saw something during the offseason that specifically stated Carnell had added that leg bump thing before they took the handoff.

Me too. It gives the run away every single time.

Oh well if no one here can help me find that video/article I'm going to spend the next few days looking for it and I guess I'll have to post that here as well

You may have seen something but that doesn’t make it right. Dyer, mason, cap all did it.

Did you ever play baseball? Infielders are moving their feet during the pitch. This allows you to "read" the ball and get a quicker jump than if you are standing flat footed. It's the same principle, just a different sport.

This is untrue. They do it every play.

I imagine it’s to get them to be patient until the hole opens up. However, to me, it slows down the power and acceleration.

Mason comes to mind certainly. Seemed like he did that waiting for the holes to open every run

The RB only does it after being motioned.

Yeah in looking for what I'm talking about I've seen people as far back as 2010 say Gus gives the run away because the backs do a little jump.

What I'm talking about I guess isnt really the jump...

I KNOW for a fact sometime in the preseason after Caddy was hired that I saw a video about a new thing Caddy had installed for our RBs to do. It was a leg hike before they got the handoff. It was so they would take a second to see the holes that had been created. I think it was a video about Kam Martin or Boobee. The move was supposed to help them with vision to see the holes.

I was wrong when I said it was the jump that all Gus teams have done... but I know I saw something that said Caddy had started having our RBs lift their leg just before the handoff..

I can not be the only one who remembers seeing this can I?

I saw people talking about it on this very website just a few days ago...

Kam and Boobees vision is better than Trent Richardson’s. So there is that I guess.

In theory this is supposed to give time to let a hole develop. Our oline is terrible tho.

I just want to get back to a scheme where we hit the hole like Brad Lester and Kenny Irons

The best thing that can happen for our RBs is to get some guards that don't get blowed the frick up every play.

Gus could just decide to not run iso 20 times a game and kill every drive. There are plenty of ways to have an effective run game without a top notch OLine, you just have to be creative.

Creative is something that no longer describes Gus...

Here is one link that shows Tre Mason hopping before being handed the ball in 2013. Ofc Gus installed this if you watched enough AU football. And their are plenty of videos I could post that I viewed that showed RBs doing it before Carnell got there.

Look around the 31-37 sec mark of this video.
LINK

Here's a video of CAP hopping before a handoff in 2014. Look around the 48 sec mark and 2 min mark. He doesn't do it every time but he does the hop. LINK2

It's possible that Carnell made it a major emphasis when he got here, but the hop was there long before Carnell got here as coach.

You didn't enjoy the fake punt in the bowl game?

Yeah, having the punter air it out to the middle of field on 4th and 8 was brilliant.

We had our punter attempt a pass and our QB punted in the same game. Maybe I was wrong about creativity...
