If you are a QB or WR with a legit chance at the professional level, you'd be crazy to pick Auburn with Gus at the helm, over another decent P5 school.

I think that every year and we are still bringing them and I can't figure out why?

He's had a lot of smoke blown up his arse about how he's an offensive genius, and why wouldn't he buy into his own hype? He rose meteorically from HS coach in Arkansas to dominating NCAA football. Because of this he doesn't want to bring in anyone who's going to challenge his "system"

This is all true. But also ironic in the sense that he doesn't even run the same system anymore that got him the recognition and accolades.

I don't know if he even knows what his system is anymore. It sure as hell doesn't look similar to any other successful offenses in CFB.

Thats because what got him here - the Chris Todd offense - has been long exposed. All of that window dressing doesn't fool anyone at this level anymore. The Cam/Marshall run iterations require a perfect set of circumstances/personnel which is why they aren't a year-to-year "system" to fall back on, but in reality every offense can work if the parameters are perfect.

Now he's trying to run a normal offense like everyone else, but like most guys who gain recognition/status off a gimmick, he's been made mortal. We got bamboozled, and a few horseshoes up Malzahn's arse has allowed him to keep getting raises and extensions even though the cracks were showing YEARS ago.

He runs the exact same system that brought him fame and fortune. His problem?

Like McDonald's, 10 hamburgers for $1.00 is not what everyone wants. McDonald's grew and added to their menu to become attractive for others that don't like hamburgers.

Gus has his crayon book used in High School, every page is filled in ....and no pages have been added.

Defenses changed to counter the Gus Bus. Gus never adjusted. Defenses now change their calls to one word from the sideline.

From where he started ....consider this. Our Head Linesman in Semi Pro was a former Florida Defensive End. Third pick of the Arizona Cardinals. 14 years in the league. I asked what he does for a living now. He said "I was getting 800,000 a year. My Financial advisor made me live on 100,000 each year. He invested the rest. I retired. Know what I do now? I'm the richest History High School Teacher, you'll ever meet in your life."

Regardless of what happens with Gus ...... no one living around him will hold a candle to what is in his bank account.

I don't feel like we have a talent gap at the WR position. I believe we have a problem with the offense in general.

Yep.

A competent offensive scheme could have plenty of success with Williams, Schwartz, Stove, Capers, and Hudson.

I mean it's not Alabama or LSU from last year but there is plenty to work with there.

Kodi should have never been hired in the first place. We don't go and get the best we just go and get "Auburn Men"

Listen I like Kodi

But I'm sure he makes like 400k despite not being sought by any comparable school. I think he's top 10 in most highly paid WR coaches.

I realize it's a drop in the bucket at this level, but it's still crazy that being an Auburn guy gets you such a windfall.

Getting rid of Kodi is like sticking cotton up your nose because you have the flu. It may get rid of one of the symptoms a runny nose but it looks silly and you have not addressed the real problem.... GUS!

It's not Kodi's fault. It's on Gus. Gus is not a confident guy and he hires more "yes" men than good coaches because he doesnt have the confidence to be challenged, adapt, and overcome. I think Kodi has done an amazing job recruiting talent, all things considered, in spite of this shite show offense with zero route diversity. What decent receiver would want to play in our shittty offensive system??

Kodi is a very personable guy who knows football. He will be like Lashley. He'll go elsewhere and flourish.

Just my opinion... but this has been one of the biggest problems with AU football since Coach Dye was forced to step down.

it’s not “we”. It’s Gus. This team, this staff, it’s all on him.

Its going to be difficult for Auburn to get back to competitive football in the next few years with Bo Nix for 3 more years, and the Chad Morris hire, and the below average line play. This is 100% all on Gus

I feel like we are close to getting an entirely new coaching staff.

Since we love our Auburn family can we bring Jimmy Brumbaugh back now that he has been fired mid season?

It would be the Auburn thing to do but surely not for Garner. Garner needs to work exclusively with the DTs and we need a coach that knows DE not a good recruiter (Pogue) just thrown there. No offense towards Pogue but DE isn’t his forte. Especially not Buck which is very important and needs to be a playmaker in our system. The same with the star.

That would be pretty cool DL tandem btwn Garner and Brumbaugh. I think he has some recruiting chops too.

Pogue is meh so far.
