I'm hitching my wagon to the Geriner train though.
Me too. I was hoping he'd be more game-ready than he is coming in. But it seems clear he needs more reps and have things slow down for him. There is nothing at all wrong with that, BTW. Very few QB's are ready for college immediately coming from HS. I can definitely see why Harsin and Bobo liked and preferred him over the fat frick Gunnar Stocton, which BTW is another good soap opera name.

Because he shows just enough to make coaches think if they can fix he couple of issues then he could be really good. Gotta show improvement at some point though.

I forgot about it. I caught the second half. They are showing a replay one night this week on SECN for those who missed it. I forgot what night it is.

The freshman QB looked impressive on the last drive. He gets the ball out in a hurry. Showed nice accuracy. The one ball drifted on him.

I can't get excited/demoralized from this game. Hopefully we see player improvement and better game planning this season.

Geekier decides where he is throwing the ball before the snap. And with the offensive line on the field this may not be a bad idea.

Based on what I saw TJ, Holden, then Ashford.

Ashfords got some Bo Nix in him with those happy feet.

Your first coaching job should be drivers ed at Reeltown. Did you even watch the game? Utah has two QB's better than Finley.

People already have their minds made up on him. If you actually paid attention, he made some nice throws.

In fairness he did have a couple of nice throws. One deep ball that Dawson dropped too. (technically MJJ dropped the first TD pass too, but there's no review) but he also had about 4 or 5 would be sacks that the refs let him play through.. one would have been a HUGE hit. He missed a wide open short throw to Shenker, he threw the worst pass of the day straight to a DB who dropped the ball, and just in general all of his movements and decisions seem just a hair too slow.

Geriner wasn't making the read presnap either. He didn't do it in HS and he isn't doing it now. What he did was see that a guy was open and immediately throw the ball instead of holding onto it hoping for something else to open up downfield. He did what you're supposed to do.. take what the defense gives you. Both of his missed passes today we're on deep balls that he missed by a yard each. He will get better with those with more reps. He also had by far the quickest release.

He's just too slow in his decisions. If you played him on rookie level in a video game he'd be fine. Bump him up to all-pro and he's getting you beat. He looks exactly the same as he did two years ago. IMO he doesn't have it between the ears, and his footwork sucks.

I did not watch the game and my mind is made up that Finley is 3rd string material.

I’ll say this. Robby Ashford is > or = the passer TJ Finley is, plus being a much bigger threat in the running game. He’s also got 4 years left to play which could be built around if he can continue to progress.

I think Auburn has some pieces but they just aren’t the talented Auburn team we’ve been accustomed to. I think the ceiling is 8 wins.

Landon King seems to make plays when he’s on the field. Period. He’s a guy we need to have out there.

Tank is Tank.

The OL is still a complete question mark and I don’t expect them to be that good.

I just look at this offensive personnel and potential scheme and it screams outdated offense to me. It makes me think back to 2007 Auburn.

I'm taking the QB competition as who could get us to the 8 win mark. Sure Ashford may pull a Johnny Manziel and beat someone we have no business beating but man he looked uncomfortable back there if the initial read wasn't there quickly.

TJ moved the ball and looked like he could do it more consistently than not. He's obviously no world beater but I feel like he'd give us a decent shot against teams we can compete with.

Same for Holden.

Calzada may be a mix of the two who knows. What's the timeline on his return?

I didn't see all of the a day game but TJ benefitted from the refs not calling sacks on him. He had 3 or 4 plays that would have been sacks they let continue. I think it comes down to Ashford or Calzada
