I'm still not sold on Stidham as being "Great"

I've been patiently waiting on him to have a break out game where he lit up the stats and it hasn't happened to this point. Nick Marshall was a way better college QB and fit the system better at Auburn, NM put up video game numbers vs Bama in 2014. Don't get me wrong, Stidham is a good QB but he's no where near an elite college QB. It's obvious that Gus needs a true dual threat QB like NM that can run the read option and have a deep threat like Sammy Coates to keep the defense honest to be successful.

He’s not great. He’s really good but gets frazzled under pressure.

Is stidham a great deep ball passer? We have some catch and runs for TD, but what was the last td that traveled 40+ yards through the air to hit a WR? The one against LSU last season? That is the key piece that is missing here imo.

Well, a bit hard when every play call is a pass and Kaleb Kim is getting raped every play. No.40 was living in our backfield once they figured out you could just bowl our center over.

Until this OL gets better, we are going to have problems. The secondary is another problem that needs fixing. OL is the bigger of the two. in the secondary, we have athletes, but they arent playing well. Kim and Wanogho got OWNED.

Whose fault is it for not recruiting QB's to fit the system?

I'm still holding out hope that Gatewood makes some significant progress over the next 10 months. That, or Bo Nix is good enough that we just take some bumps and let him be the guy for the next 3-4.

Is he worse than Nick Fitzgerald? That guy is a TE turned QB. If he can do it then Gatewood can.

With Gus developing him , maybe if he goes the JUCO route for some development then come back.

Stidham shits his pants in the pocket. He ran out of the pocket several times Saturday, when there was no need. He's always looking for someone to hit him, instead of keeping his eyes downfield. He had #80 with nobody within 15 yards of him, but he was too busy looking at someone to hit him.

Stidham is elite but not in this offense. No doubt in my mind Stidham would be in the Heisman race if he were elsewhere like Okie State, or Bama someone that pushes the ball downfield. Our screens and slow developing routes aren't exactly going to make any qb look "great"

Stidham threw it 36 times and 28 times vs Wash and LSU with yardage of 273 and 198.

Let that sink in.

Tua for comparison is getting about 230 yards on 15 attempts.

Can you imagine Tua with 36 or 28 attempts. Would be 400+ yards and multiple Tds.

And no this isn't a praise TUA post. You could insert JS into their offense and produce the same stats.

Our offense isn't made to make pro-style qbs look good.

All of this. Kim needs to go ASAP.

There are tons of examples of QB's having great physical tools, but not being able to process the game at the speed it is played. Stidham has the tools, but it is obvious the game speeds up on him from time to time. This is very difficult to fix.
