Agreed. I think the people saying we should give it to Carnell are looney but I’d be 100% for him over Mullen. Can’t stand that guy.

That dude has never worked outside of the State of Ohio.

Dabo or Urban

Less than a 1% chance.
Will check offshore/Vegas odds.

What happened that he screwed it up?

If we can’t land Fickell, an up and comer I have my eye on is Mike Elko.
The wins and numbers he is putting up at Duke reminds me of when Spurrier was at Duke during his first HC gig.
Elko left aTm and they imploded (finally got it together last night vs LSWho though).
Dude has SEC experience, highly educated (Penn - Ivy League) and plays smart, hard nosed football.

The more I read about Brian Johnson the more I want him.

I'm not sure we could pull him from TCU at this point

Speaking of Kiffin - Dan Lanning @ Oregon choking that game away yesterday was KIFFINesque

I would take a look at Curt Cignetti if we want established program builder that has SEC experience. Not flashy but did whip that Coastal A$$ yesterday by 40. Can't go to their championship because it is there first year or they would have gone.
If you are looking for someone that got a shot but only a HC for 3 years...take a look at Jeff Traylor UTSA. Big TX ties as HS & SMU. Also SEC as Arky RB coach. Exciting Offense but needs a Defense

What do you need with the paradigm shift given the advent of NIL and the portal?
Kiffin once said one of the first things a respective coach should as the school, "whats your NIL organization look like and how much money is in it".
He also said "good recruiting coaches" will become a thing of the past, you wont see some asst on staff just because he can recruit. You will find more technically sound coaches of which there are probably many in the high school ranks, based on that merit, who are better than assts on college payrolls.
He said its all about the money with some of the kids, he recruited one for three years, lost him in the end....and the kid had never even met the head coach.
You will also see 2nd string QBs forced to play before they are ready because the NIL, or specifically a big booster, paid a lot into the NIL to get the guy and wants to see him play.
So what advantage would you have in a coaching hire. It would have to be someone who could truly set themselves apart from the same ole drudgery of P5 experience, he is a good offensive or defensive mind etc. And there is one answer....Deion. I hope we have reached out.

Auuburn is clearly a step up
TCU likely graduates nearly its whole team

Knee jerking is weakness.
But it’s not knee jerking. He knew since the day he gave his first speech - the clock was ticking.
The portal is opening in a few weeks and if we don’t have a coach and staff before day #1 - next season is below .500 again.
His “time and patience” will ruin Auburn for another year.
You have to treat a coaching search like a draft board. Rank them all and then move quickly.
