we will be given a thick sh$t sandwich of a coach to eat…. And if that in fact is true, why not a flavor we are all familiar with? I present to you, MUSCHAMP….

I was thinking the same thing last night. I'd take him over a google coach.

I think the AD taking time to assess the feelings of and bend to the will of a portion of an emotional, at times lunatic fanbase is moronic. It's his arse that will be held accountable, that gets fired for his choice. Knee jerking is weakness. Fans, in due time and winning, always come around.

That said, the more I read about Fickell the more I like. No SEC/southern experience, Ohio centric background is a negative, and Cincy joining far easier road Big 12 next year major obstacle. He's not Harsin, he hits the trail. I think he could work the portal this offseason as this class is what it is at this point anyways and work learning the trail this next year. I think we'd be sitting pretty two years from now.

I think you have to go after Urban Meyer in the 12+ mil range and make him say no.

Fickell is a very good coach, and I'd like to have him, but I just don't see him leaving his comfort zone. That dude has never worked outside of the State of Ohio.

For the money, that's who I was saying since the beginning. But, on his side I'm not sure he'd leave his cozy TV gig to go to bat 247 against Kirby and Saban every year, recruit against FSU and the other regional sharks. Even for top 5 money. On our end, the same people emailing the AD now would fire more off for the finger in the butt, jaguars kicker incident, the iowa coach he had incident, Aaron hernandez and team arrests, tOSU culture and violations.

If he somehow had it in him to say yes and go full bore, Kirby would shite himself. But, I don't think he's got it in him to come into the auburn ring of fire.

Fickell did coach under him and Tressel. I don't know what it would take to get him out of Ohio though. I think he could attract the talent and hire some southern coaches to hit the trail. He's not abrasive like Harsin and I can see coaches wanting to work for him.

This and how he would recruit the south are the unknowns. Big family and catholic too. Would be nice to learn after that we had least gave him a call.

Mullen would be a better option than Muschamp and I think he'd take the job with a quickness

You had me up till here,

It is under-appreciated how Kirby locked down the state of Georgia. I dont honestly think any one stepping into Auburn would make him shite himself.

He has a system that is working right now and Its going to be hard to break

I’m glad he’s taking his time, and keeping things quiet. It has GOT to be a home run hire. With Texas and Oklahoma joining the league very soon, we have to hire a stud. Our new coach will have to compete against them, Bama, UGA, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, the SEC Refs, etc… This is not the place to cut your teeth as a coach.

Jang, I will make one statement that will clearly paint a definite picture of the AU BOT members… They hired with haste behind closed doors S. Leath. as AU’s President not so long ago. That very vote is what has begat the situation we are currently in. I have little faith in the leadership to lead.
