At what point will Harsin's weight double?

does Bryan Harsin not remind anyone else of the Bret Bielema experiment at Arkansas?
Now that you mention it, there are obvious parallels.

Of course the main difference between the two (besides physical) was the era in which they entered the SEC. Bert joined the SEC at a time when the traditional powers all had established successful HCs who had been in the conference for many years - Saban at Bama, Miles at LSU, Richt at UGa - who all used a similar coaching philosophy of tough defense and conservative ball-control offense, much like he ran at Wisky. Where he failed was trying to run those same schemes at Arky, just as the other schools in the SEC were transitioning to more uptempo attacking offenses - Gustav at AU, Sumlin at TAMU, Freezus at Ole Miss, etc.

In contrast, Harsin came into a league that is filled with those same high-octane offenses and trying (and mostly failing) to keep up. He isn't going against the trend like Bert, but he hasn't been particularly successful at keeping up with the Joneses. Part of that is due to a lack of talent in the trenches, but part of it is probably due to the hard-headed 'just watch' approach he is taking.

Chiz's first year was not a strong class.

Why are you comparing Chiz’s 2009 class, when he was hired in December of 2008, to Harsin’s 2022 class, when he had been at Auburn a full year already?

The apples to apples comparison is Chiz’s 2010 class which finished ranked number 6 in the country.

You can lie, make excuses, whatever. Will Harsin be successful if he continues to recruit in the bottom half of the conference? Don’t need explanation, just yes or no.

I hope we don't hire Rhett Lashlee to be our Chad Morris next

Rhett is better than Chad.

Not advocating for that hire, but Rhett has evolved his offense from what Gus did.

Hope you're right, he's probably the next one up. Question will be does he keep evolving and allow his assistants to do their jobs, somethings his step dad Gus didn't

I mean, there's a history of the children of overbearing parents going wild once they get out on their own, so...

Yeah. I don't get the RL hate. Dude was a great recruiter for us and the few times he actually was left alone we looked great.

Right. He's not the same 29 year old who followed Gus a decade ago. He's gotten most of the Gus stink off of him IMO.

Chad Morris may go down as the worst HC in SEC history.

Sanders wouldn't come here and be controlled by boosters.

I think Arnada would be solid too, but same problem.

If that's the line of thinking, then absolutely no coach in America would take the Auburn job.

What has Lashlee done to impress you? 2-0 start at SMU? June Jones did that there too. Where was Chad Morris before Arkansas?

He was a good recruiter at Auburn. He's been a good recruiter and OC since he's left there.

Morris only won 2 games his 1st season at SMU.

Not saying I want either one, but they aren't the same at all.
