Freeze is an offensive coach. The offense falls on him.

He should be gone

Once teams realized Arnold's legs were the only threat and easily took that away, how has it gone since?

Even after the Baylor game Freeze admitted he was basically having withdrawals from trying to call a bunch of passing plays on the sideline.

He cant help himself.

Tell me with facts where my OP is wrong.

My point is that if Drinkwitz, Lee, Lebby, Heupel, etc had all faced our exact schedule, they too would be 3-2. Conversely, had Auburn faced their schedules, Hugh would be 4-1 or 5-0 and ranked in this week’s AP Poll.

Tell me what in that statement is incorrect.

1. It is a fact that you are speculating. You have no idea what anyone's record would be playing another schedule.

2. I don't really care what Missouri and Vanderbilt are doing or who they are playing. That's not the level I want Auburn to be at. I care that our offense is a complete embarrassment and somehow getting worse.

3. Just like last year (Throne!, our kicker is sick), and the year before (Haskins fault) we can keep making excuses or we can face the facts that our offensive minded head coach, with a very talented roster, is completely hopeless against defenses in this conference. Even the middle of the road ones.

You are correct, but two things can be true at once.

And if our expectations are that Hugh should be able to field at least a 9-3 to a 10-2 team, starting 3-2 is not a promising path to get there, especially considering what lies ahead.

Freeze needs to have the play calling duties removed from him. No job in America is free from feedback from your boss when you are failing. If Nix can't do it, then he needs to go today.

loss isn't the issue imo. Close losses on the road against top 10 teams is understandable. Its the how. The offense just cannot be that bad, ever. That's including the penalties, the bad play calling and the poor OL and QB play. If we lost 34-28.. its whatever. Only scoring once because the defense gave you the ball at the 2 is a problem.

It's this right here

Who is Auburn going to realistically get for a HC having just fired one after 2 seasons and another after 3 seasons?

Auburn isn't going to get some sure thing coach, but we can get a knowledgeable, hungry up and comer who can organize a plan, hire solid assistants and put together a competent offense and defense. That's not a high bar. Our problem is we have approached every search either as needing the hottest name - see the Kiffen debacle last go 'round - or someone who has a magical "scheme" that can overcome talent deficiency - see Malzahn, Freeze and "I can scheme 'em up" Harsin.

That's poor evaluation and stupidly run coaching searches. You're probably right on some level that the same people pull the strings behind football coaching hires, so we'll be dealing with the same mess... but Freeze isn't going to get better. He'll get worse. All of this vaunted talent that makes up the ONLY plus in his resume at Auburn is out the portal as soon as this season wraps and then we're headed into one of the most brutal Auburn schedules in recent memory with a very unpopular head coach and even less talent. You're just delaying the inevitable.

South Alabama shut our offense down for the entire second half...at Jordan Hare.

It was, and is, plenty obvious where this team is headed.

Is there any reason to expect better in the future?

We had numerous opportunities to win yesterday's game. No frickery can be blamed for the loss this time, but we could only muster a single yard in the 4th quarter.

We also could not convert a single third down. Our offensive talent is damn good, and A&M's defense is too damn average to play that poorly. This is the third year where our offense sputters under Freeze. I can understand the first year but this year he has his players that he recruited. Anything breaks it is on him. He cannot blame anybody any more.

If Freeze was serious he would be firiing his numerous OC's, OL coach, and ST coach now, and then at the end of the year, pray his job does not come next.

And Cohen needs to be on the hot seat as well. Freeze and the nepotism hire are pretty crap.

I’d hire DJ in a sec. His D’s have been very good, he motivates, recruits well and teams get better as the season progresses.

You mean hiring the guy from arguably the worst athletic department in the SEC wasn't a good idea?

It should have been very obvious in year 1 when New Mexico State walked into our damn stadium and blew us out by 21 points. That game would have taken us to 7 wins, but Freeze fell asleep after three straight wins to MSU, Vandy, and Arkansas and got his cheeks blasted by the same team that spanked his arse a year earlier at Liberty. They knew exactly what we were going to do, and since then everyone else has figured out our game plan.

Im ready to fire everyone. Water boy, trainers, food prep. If you worked to put that on the field yesterday, you gotta go.

No chance things are going to be better 5 years from now.

When as a fan I give 3 years of patience and get screwed for pinching my nose then someone else above me needs to get fired.

Okay then. What’s your plan? Who is Auburn going to realistically get for a HC having just fired one after 2 seasons and another after 3 seasons? You think the list of realistic possibilities was bad last go round, let’s see how bad it will be this next time.
This is the go to talking point now for Hugh apologists. They know they were wrong in thinking the hire was good but cannot quite own it yet. They tried to blame players and other circumstances for the last few years. They will have to own it once he’s fired but they don’t want that day to come.

Preach.

It should have never got to this point once he lost to NMS and absolutely fricked up the Iron Bowl, he should have been given a bus ticket out of town. He was on a one year deal and a short leash.

Should have parted ways.

Pat Dye was a winner at East Carolina and Wyoming.

Yella wood just retired. Maybe he should retire from Auburn Football King too.
