I love the notion that you just stick a highly unqualified position coach at HC, and then you simply load up on "elite coordinators". As if some elite coordinator is going to want to hitch their career on a complete experiment. Also, imagine being said elite coordinator and takin direction and orders from someone who is less qualified than you to even be the HC. What, Cadillac runs up and down the field waving a towel the entire game while the guys making 3-5x less than him do the ACTUAL work for him?

Believe it or not, the HC actually needs to be the guy who commands respect and knows WTF is going on. It's not a cheerleader position.

This entire experience has proven without a doubt how utterly clueless the vast majority of Auburn fans are. I mean I've been saying that shite for years, but it's actually embarrassing seeing these takes.

Have seen some Auburn fans on social media wanting the same. I think you all are out of your minds tbh.

Maybe just caught up in the moment? I get it. It happens.

As much as we all like Caddy, there’s no way we should give him the job right now. I’d love for him to prove himself for a few years and turn out to be a great HC that we can hire one day but it’s way too early for that.

Agree, but for the sake of argument, lets say Auburn does give him a shot. Given his experience level, there's no arguing that he's not a very high risk hire. If he does fail, how do we feel about one of our favorite sons 2 or 3 years from now?

Do we honestly think that he'd even have a 50% chance of long term success? Remember, things usually end badly for most of even the best coaches at all schools. May be better to bring in a hired gun so that when it is time for the next divorce, and it will likely end that way, we can pull the trigger with less guilt.

Caddy finishing the year 2-2 would be a huge win from where we were just two weeks ago. Lets just enjoy the moment with him.

Caddy is holding this together right now for us. He won’t be our future head coach, but he’ll be a head coach somewhere next year.

If it comes down to Caddy or some desperation hire, then I'm going with Caddy. But as long as we've got a chance with any of the home run prospects, then we need to stay the course...

It won't be desperation with the way our AD sounds with his 58 step requirements.

BTW did anyone see John Cohen in the postgame interview with Cubelick he had a look of, "You're a good man, some people are gonna hate me for this, but you're not going to be the HC"

I like what Cohen's saying, but I once liked what Harsin was saying too, lol... pardon my cynicism, but until someone steps to the podium and officially announces the next coach, then it's all pretty much just talk to me...

Same exact thing. One is a HC in a shitty FCS conference for a couple of years, the other is RB coach in the SEC who is now the interim coach. Both were assistants on a high schoolt team just a couple of years age. Experience level is the same, but weirdly one is considered the brass ring by a bunch of people on here, and the other is quickly dismissed.

For Caddys sake, I hope not.

He should try to do the accelerated Mel Tucker UGA track.

- Learn how to run a successful program as AHC from an established HC

- Become OC for a head coach who knows offense + futher experience how to run good program. Take offensive scheme/principles for next HC job

- Take HC job at good P5 with a off system + network of assistants to draw from

A top tier OC or DC are probably more qualified as a head coach as he is now and doubtful to come over.

100%. Caddy isn’t ready to be a HC yet, especially at Auburn. There’s a lot more that goes into it than loving the school and players. He needs time to learn and that’s not a shot at him, he’s just so new to college coaching.

The funny part is how many Bama fans are saying we need to hire him.

The other aspect of taking someone like Caddy, Dabo, or Pittman is that you’re so dependent on finding great coordinators, and great coordinators usually get HC jobs quickly which means you end up in this cycle of constantly having to find the next great offensive/defensive mind.

Why does everyone assume Caddy actually wants to be the HC?

This man has played at a P5 program and he’s coached at one for 4 years. He knows what is up and what is expected. I have to feel he knows enough about programs at this level to know he’s not ready yet.

Also Finebaum has been lobbying all day for Auburn to hire Caddy, and Legend was on there doing the same. Now ask yourself why cause neither want the best for Auburn that is for damn sure.

40 or 50 years ago I would say yes. Not in today’s fricked up college football world.
We definitely need to keep him board in some capacity.
