From the data if you are under 60ish and don't have a heart condition, lung condition, or diabetic then you are probably good to go. If you have those conditions you should be more careful and take extra precaution.
No way can we wait 12-15 months for a vaccine and that absolutely will not happen. I'm not an anti-vaxxer but I won't take the covid-19 vaccine. I've never taken the flu vaccine, I've never taken the pneumonia vaccine and I won't take this one.
Two things worth pointing out here. One, is that when you look at US adults under 60 and start taking out people with obesity, heart disease, hypertensive, etc., you get a substantially smaller amount of people.
However, those people do fair well. There’s no doubt about it. Unfortunately, they still get the virus. That’s a problem because the sick population under 60 and the entire population of people over 60 that we’ve removed depend on the healthier population to exist. In that dependence you have the risk of transmission.
Anyhow, your point is well taken. It’s true that we cannot wait 12-15 months for a vaccine to wipe this away. But we also can’t run everyone loose because that will also send society to a halt when cases spike again.
There’s a practical balance there. That’s the only point. What we’re doing now won’t continue in perpetuity. Restrictions will likely gradually ease until we’re really only limited to large gatherings. But we’ll have to see.
Luckily neither of us are in charge of how this works

I agree we can't wait. I don't know if I will get the vaccine either. Of the treatment works, why not just do that?
I've been at work this entire time. But my traveling has been essentially house to work and back.

May just be a local phenomenon but I don’t think hospitals are as log jammed as before. It’s kinda weird but the hospital my wife works at won’t accept patients from outside facilities because they’re (in anticipation) holding onto beds.

Same. And the gas station I frequent takes my order from the door.

I’m guessing this is mostly true everywhere except maybe a few cities. My wife’s hospital is near capacity and accepting transfers but the inpatient roster looks different. Not seeing the usual cases. Basically no new admissions there from recent surgeries, accidents, and even heart attack and strokes.
Some of that highlights what’s going on around us. Less people in general are in positions to get injured. Some of that represents over utilization of the hospital, too. People that don’t need to be hospitalized but otherwise would be (due to bed availability) just aren’t showing up in the numbers they used to

That was pointed out by studying some of the folks in Italy & China, those that didn't have underlying conditions were later found out to have been smokers or vapors which reduces lung capacity which is what this virus does...also those that live in very air polluted environments may also be affected.
Yeah that's not actually the case. I've read plenty of stories about people who were young and healthy who had no underlying conditions.

quote:not to make light of this but down here, if there is one accident in an area there are multiple due to many different things...so that one driver can take out others...I understand your point about the cause of death...I am just stating we had a ton of people in our area with this outbreak came over and for a whole month it was spreading before our stay at home order and the closure of gathering places.
You can insert X cause of death if you makes you feel better, but a DOA car accident victim doesn't generally run the risk of infecting everyone including healthcare workers. Which leads to more infections and more possible hospitalizations.

Its not about bravery. It's about being duped. It's all overblown bs. The sooner we stop looking at these inflated numbers and fear the sooner we get back to "normal". I understand the major metro areas and overrun hospital argument. I don't want that to happen at all and agree with this 30 day of distancing. As mentioned before I have an 82 year old mother that definitely doesn't need to get it. We buy her groceries for her and place them on her porch. She doesnt go to church. She hasn't been out of the house except to let her little dog out in 3 weeks. But these plenty of young people dying is horse crap. Yes maybe a handful, but a handful dies from pneumonia, a handful dies from the flu, from heart attacks... It isn't the norm. From the data if you are under 60ish and don't have a heart condition, lung condition, or diabetic then you are probably good to go. I share the same sentiments as you but Facebook has told us all to freak out as if this is AIDS in a bottle. I’ve been down voted into oblivion for a few weeks now.
I think we should stop using terms like duped, overblow, and BS. People immediately put their walls up when they see those words.

Most of the ones I read about were healthcare professionals. I can't blanket say they were not smokers or vapers, but it's probably unlikely.

I went and had the antibody testing today. Came back negative. Nurse lady said they've been giving a ton of the tests and only a handful have come back positive for antibodies. I had thought whatever I had back in late Jan early Feb might have been this stuff.

Taken from the rant. Not really sure how Ole Miss can hope for football to start on time with that rule.
quote:
Ole Miss announced Thursday that it “is canceling in-person on-campus summer camps, conferences, events and other experiences through Aug. 1, 2020. This includes all academic and athletics programs on the Oxford, Tupelo, Southaven, Booneville and Grenada campuses.”
That could put a major dent into the preseason plans for an SEC school, which means the rest of the conference could also be affected. Fall camps typically start in early August, which means this move comes into direct conflict with the window when Ole Miss would typically start official preparation for the season. The SEC could be in a tough position, as it either allows other universities to do as they please — which could put Ole Miss at a disadvantage if other programs start camp on time — or hold back the entire league.
“While this was a difficult decision, this action is necessary to uphold our commitment to the safety, health and well-being of our campus community,” Ole Miss said in the release. “We recognize that this decision presents disruptions and challenges for students, families, faculty and staff.”

I’m all for being cautious right now, but making any decisions that far out is completely idiotic

Damn Coach,
This sports withdrawal's been hard on you. Not only has it made you insufferably mad, it's also made you a little bat shite crazy as well. So here's to hoping the drop in IQ is temporary and it's a miraculous recovery.
Even though your the type that caused this shutdown. One of the know-it-alls who wouldn't limit their actions when asked, so the government was forced into protecting it's populace. . . from the likes of you. The same insufferable bores who now want to say those forecasts don't add up, as if everyone sacrificing for the common good wasn't the reason. Folk's unable to say THANKS to all those who lost a job to help out the nation. The true spreaders of unrest, disease, and discontent. Who's logic is I know better than everyone else.
Oh, and your conspiracy theories and your 'the press' plays better to the walking dead on the political forum. So please take your shite over there. Because such accusations belong where they welcome such shtick as fact. And because you've shown no good reason for bringing your delusional politics in here.

I’m not mad at all. Just because you disagree with me doesn’t make my IQ low or me dumb in any way. Seems you can’t take a differing opinion other then your own which makes you appear to be a little childish. We were discussing the shelter in place order which is a government order and what is politics? So we were all discussing politics. So take your bitchy little remarks wherever about me because you don’t know me and I don’t really care what you think of my opinions. So stay in your your safe space and I’ll stay doing my thing and we will both be happy. Good luck to you. But drop the personal attacks!!!

But drop the personal attacks!!!
Because it's you with personal attacks and they're made against everyone here and toward the rest of humanity. They're the one's you seem to make with every breath and with every stroke of the key. You play pretend, hiding behind opinion as if this is a game, because you can't see the chosen solution is (was and remains) for us to not be part of the problem.
So yes, it's personal. It mighty personal and being told to stop the attacks works both ways. The difference being your attacks are so much dire. Because they're life and death my friend. Melodramatic perhaps, over the top maybe, being wrongfully applied not a chance.
HAGD and hoping the best for you too.
