well, seems like the majority want to blow it up, destroy our roster, and hire a new coach

Only reason to keep him would be to keep the stink off a new coach with our schedule next year

We need lock in enforceable NIL contracts then blow it up. :)

I am talking NIL so enforceable if we give 25,000 and they leave they give us every dime back plus administrative expenses. I am guessing they aren't trying to sell their rolex to recoup the money.

Of all the people I would not expect you to be rationalizing keeping him. 789 isn't enough already?

With NIL and the way the team is performing, particularly offense, this team might get blown up whether you keep him or not.

Opposing teams are recruiting players right now as we speak during the season. Players handlers are already reaching out to other teams gauging interest and working on next year. It’s a whole new world we have in college football.

If you think Cam Coleman or any other player you like on offense is staying to play for CHF next year you are out of your mind. Atkins and others on the defense maybe, if Durkin sticks around.

I'd add it is FAR from a slam dunk Durkin sticks around. He will have options to be a head coach or simply leave the dumpster fire behind for a similar role elsewhere.

That's going to happen every year regardless of staff turnover with NIL and transfer portal.

Another reason its important to hire a competent coach. Freeze has been fine in the portal but he can't do anything with the goods he gets

Freeze could be good coach if he would just go hire hot shot offensive coordinator and turn offense over to someone else.

Be CEO and focus on nil/recruiting....

But nah he ain't doing that. He still thinks he is offensive genius

Penn State? Laughable. I will listen to zero attempts that argue that Penn State, a school riddled with despicable controversy out in the middle of nowhere, is a better job than a Big 6 SEC school.
I know people don't want to hear it, but that's not us. Not anymore. Not since the expansion.

Think that's a product of the crappy coaches we have had here recently. The support for the program and resources available are there.

I highly doubt anybody on our offensive roster other than Lew and Coleman are threats to leaving because the rest are actually not worth a bigger bag elsewhere. I am guessing Coleman will be the only casualty. Big casualty for sure.

No, he can't.

There is a lot more to being a successful HC than just finding a good OC and DC and staying out of their way.

If it was that easy, everyone would be a successful HC.

Are there any coaches in college football actually coaching that way? I hear that sentiment all the time but not sure it's real. Heck people used to say the same thing about Gus and that was pre-portal/NIL craziness

Possibly Deboer. He seems to walk around looking dumb or has his hands folded

Not wrong.

The only question now is do we fire him this year or next year.

If we wait a year do we risk our DC?
Do we lose our skill players?

In this new day and age, who is to say the coaching market will not be just as bad next year.

Yes write enforceable NIL Contracts. These are no longer kids but they are contract labor. They get anywhere from Tuition/Room/Board costs up to 7 figures. So it is time that they are held accountable. People want to say oh their just kids. Well do you say the same about an 18 year old in the military or are they held accountable?

If they aren't performing then they need to go, the same as a coach.

People want to believe that AU is up there in prestige. We can be again but we have to get back to winning. We have been lost for so long that people have short memories. Look at the amount of alumni each of these schools are churning out each year. Then look at ours. No where near say the 87+ K of students that Penn St has or the 55K that UF has 34k but has a ton of money in the oil & chemical sectors. Total for AU is 33.8K only 25K undergrad. We have been smaller for years. Plus we have some issues about selecting a good coach.
