quote:You must have mentally blocked out JJ's play. There is no way the 3rd string QB could've played any worse. You do remember that Gus eventually did bench him, late in the season. I don't remember any more backward passes since then, up until this year's Arky game.
As for the Johnson discussion, who exactly did you want him to put in there? It was a shitty situation but it’s not like we had a guy over there that was 1b

Nah
Are you saying Nix has good footwork? Holy shite, he hardly ever sets his feet for a throw! Forget his propensity to give up on the pocket, he has the worst footwork I've seen in an AU QB in a long time. I'm sure he looks great in practice though.

So hind sight is always easy. I’m not defending Nix. He is terrible at times. But when he beat Oregon in his first game and played well late in the game, did you think he was the right choice or not?
I've watched every game Nix has played as an AU Tiger. How many times has Seth Williams bailed him out? How many times has Nix thrown one up, into double, sometimes triple coverage, and Seth comes down with it? I'm just being objective. Last year, I thought Nix may win the Heisman before he leaves Auburn. The more I see him play, I began to question what I was thinking at the time.

Gatewood had 39 yards passing the first half.

Nix is better than Gatewood, Get Over it.

You are just looking for an argument. Nothing will convince you Gatewood was just not an option at the time.
Gatewood may not be lighting it up, but he looks better than Nix. He doesn't panic. He doesn't throw into heavy coverage and he's not dancing around like he's trying to put out a fire with his feet.
All that being said, to point out the person who made the decision to essentially run off Gatewood by leaving him on the pine while his true freshman was stinking up the place. Remind me, how many interceptions did Nix throw last week?

I have literally never seen Seth Williams “bail out” Bo Nix. Part of being QB in 2020 is giving your best players chances to make plays, sometimes in tight windows. Again, you’re letting your judgment be clouded by a weird Gatewood opinion.
I actually wish Bo would give Seth more chances down the field at the boundaries. He too often throws a glorified throw away to avoid an INT

That fumble SMH. KY needed to score on that drive

I wanted Gatewood to start last year. But after what little we’ve seen of him, I’ve seen nothing that makes me think the coaches made the wrong decision.
I hope he gets it together and does well, but he’s either gonna have to start throwing the ball better or actually running with a purpose.

This might be his last start

Just missed that 3 yard crosser, maybe he’ll finally get there one day tho

I think even GreyGoose would admit Nix a far superior passer. The thing is, Nix is also a better runner from what I’ve seen.

This is his third year as a college QB. UK appears to be afraid of throwing more than a few yards past the LOS.

Based on what though? I’m starting to legitimately wonder if you’re a jville alter
