do have a question...last season didn't we end up with Dilly because the money wasn't approved to hire a better name or something like that? Would the PTB use money as a tool to prevent Chad being hired?

That story changed like every other fake insider rumor. The rumor was that Gus wasn’t getting any coordinator for more than a year. Then Dilly signed a 2 year deal

If you wanted to be negative you could suggest he wanted out of Gus' O because he wasn't given input or a voice.

Doesn’t compute. That’s what he signed up for. No offense to the guy but he didn’t play college ball and he was under 30. His input and voice isn’t valuable.

He was hired to install Gus’s offense, run meetings, and help recruit.

I'm curious as to how or why we ended up with Dilly at all. Why would he fly the coop for one season? The writing was on the wall that Norvell was headed towards a big job. I guess Gus just needed to quickly add a coach for the recruiting continuity. Maybe Norvell owed him a favor.

FWIW, apparently Norvell struggled to establish himself as a major candidate. Someone said he has some issues

I think Dilly just took an opportunity to work at a job better than Memphis knowing that if it worked out he’d be set and if it didn’t he’d find a home with Norvell at his next stop.

Multiple reports out that AU would not guarantee more than 1 year for Gus' OC hire which means we didn't have many options

Norvell benefits from this as he gets his guy at FSU with more broad P5 experience recruiting and offensive scheme

Dilly doubled his pay, added covered major P5 OC experience while under 30 and now can demand more $ from FSU than if pulled from Memphis

Honestly, Dilly probably make another $2+ mil in salary over 5 years by making this move since FSU will pay him more like a stolen P5 OC hire

So Norvell used us to build his OC some SEC experience and gain access to our recruits. Sounds like we lost on that deal.

All parties benefitted. More than likely Gus/Norvell thought this outcome was likely

Gus found someone willing to take a 1 year deal for relatively cheap who got his system + didn't butt heads. Basically impossible to do

Dilly got paid and padded his resume

Norvell was probably the 'loser' in that he lost his guy but at the same time he probably knew he could get him back better

From what I understand Norvell and Gus worked out a deal to get Dilly some experience outside from Novell. This was expected.

Chadwick just got a $205,000 a month golden parachute. Anything we would pay him as OC will offset that, so we could hire him for the $500k a year Dilly was making (or even the $800k Lindsey made his final year) and his income won't change an iota.

If CM wants to rebuild his rep he will try to get back on with Clemson.

Maybe we can seal the deal or maybe he hates Dabo

Pay his arse 100k a year and let Arkansas keep paying him buyout. He rebuild his reputation and get another chance somewhere else.

Any word on Grimes being replaced yet? Maybe after early signing period?

I'm sure Sexton learned from Bielema's troubles with Arky not fulfilling their end of the deal.

Chadwick will get market value as AU's OC so as not to jeopardize his buyout from the Pigs. I'm guessing somewhere between Dilly's $500k and Chip's $800k.

I feel like Morris could probably get well above 800k on the open market.

From who??? The only other job that he has been linked to is South Carolina and they chose Bobo. The only value that Morris has is a 4* QB for a son.
