I think someone said it well in these media circles, I don't want a coach that's been fired before.

Cohen says he's going to listen to experts, will only use as search firm for the background check role if he needs, but he is putting this all on himself as "I am the committee" Durkin absolutely has an opportunity to be in the pool of candidates.

I guess i admire the balls, but he better not miss...

I'd much prefer the AD take this approach, it is what we pay them for. With the caveat being he does need to at least listen to other opinions and not just free solo it like Greene. Take ownership and if he fails, it is on him.

I posted last week that if you look back at fired coaches and their next job(s), it rarely goes too well.

I'm not a huge Hoke fan but Beat writers literally can't do their job without relationships with the coaching staff

A good way to basically tank your site is to air dirty laundry of the people you rely on to do your job

Even at the national level , guys like Kirk Herbstreit constantly take pro coach / anti fan sentiment stances. That gets him a ton of inside relationships

If we end up with Durkin we will be doing this again in 3 years

Maybe. Probably actually. Its not going to be easy to get this program back to be a winning program. Not sure if he can do it.

It will be nice to watch him coach the last 3 games and see how he handles things. Its not really his team and none of this is his fault but lets see how he handles things. Not sure if we are positioned to get one of the top coaches this season anyway

I get that. I understand they're in a tight spot, however, letting subscribers know that Hugh is playing a lot of golf, while the football team is cratering, isn't exactly airing his dirty laundry, imo.

Then again, I guess none of it would matter if we were winning. The Auburn media just seems to be talking an awful lot of shite for a group of people who were kissing Hugh's arse a month ago.

Feels like firing Gus, making Steele interim, then full time HC 2.0

Maddie freeze on tik tok posting about documenting the post firing. Says her dad isn't healthy and now he can get the surgeries he needs to get healthy.

I think you could see that. Which is why he should have done the right thing and stepped down. Instead of dragging the program farther down the hill than it was.

But, you cant expect that kind of honesty from a slime ball like him

N King has an article out on 247 that reads like Sumerall has been actively shopping himself to Auburn for a few weeks.

He has been. I expect things to move very quickly after the iron bowl.

We’ll still interview a few coaches, but I think Sumrall is easily the leader as of right now.

I have someone who is supposedly close to someone close Sumrall and his wife and they say that AU is by far his 1st choice. Both AU and LSU have contacted him. Take this with as big a grain of salt as y'all see fit.

My barber knows a guy, that knows a guy, who's brother's wife has a cousin that heard the Tulane coach might be interested in Auburn, LSU, or Florida
