Seriously.Someone please explain to me how Texas and Oklahoma joining the sec will benefit Auburn directly? I keep hearing and reading it being said and I can't see it. I know each school will receive a boost in revenue but someone please fill me in.

TL;DR. It will balance geography and put us in our original footprint. Think playing UF, UT, etc more.

“ A 16-team Southeastern Conference that includes Texas and Oklahoma would be such a financial powerhouse that its revenue quickly would become equivalent to the NCAA’s, a USA TODAY Sports analysis of conference and association financial records shows.” TV/Media revenue.

Hopefully Auburn won’t be playing the toughest schedule in the conference every year anymore. But…I’m sure the SEC will find a way to ensure we do.

It seems the biggest recruiting advantage would go to Oklahoma and Texas. I dont see kids leaving texas or oklahoma for auburn when they can stay home and still play in the best confrence. All of these Oklahoma fans are right it's a win win all the way for them.

We are always going to play a gauntlet schedule there is no way around it. Right now the prosperity gap is above our program so our heads are kind of underwater. My question is still how will expansion directly benefit Auburn besides added revenue?

There are enough quality players in Texas and Okl. for every SEC team to get their fair share. They have been going to the Okl. St.'s, TCU, Tex. Tech's and Baylor's of the world. Now the Big 12 eyes will be on the SEC.

Money and college football is headed towards one or two big conferences anyway.

It's a shame. I know politics are everywhere but that's why I dont care for the NFL. Definetly wont be the SEC our families gathered around to watch for years.

The last 12 months have been stupid, and it’s pushing me away from college football.

I’ll always love Auburn, but I’m going to pass on minor leave football.

Right! It seems as though that's what its leading to. Will there even be recruiting by that point? Or will they be drafting teenagers from high school......

There’s a big difference between Auburn’s SOS and other SEC schools right now though. For example, uat gets to play Tennessee and Vandy all the time.

Depends on how they divide up the conference, we could benefit by more exposure in TX when we play there, we could also get into the playoffs easier with the expansion, right now if you are a 1 loss team to the SEC champ it is tougher to get in over some other conferences that have an easier road. There could be 4 or 5 SEC teams that make the playoffs...Also other sports can benefit in recruiting...

How does it hurt Auburn? From a financial standpoint it helps tremendously. I find it hard to believe that the competition gets any more difficult than it has been for the past 10 years.

The game we’ve known for decades is coming to an end... some folks will love it... some won’t. Maybe I’ll change my mind... I don’t know. I just don’t think I’ve ever cared less than I do right now.

It could be said that having the best conference, with so many of the best teams, is what congregated all this talent into such a small footprint.

And adding deadwood like tA&M and Mizzo didn't really elevate that... beyond helping them out .... so why add mesquite and tumbleweed?

No, I understand competition wise we will still play a decent SEC schedule like always. I'm wondering the effects of recruiting etc. adding two more well known schools. Texas has far more financial support than Auburn. Albeit they haven't been relevant. I assume that will change when they get in a confrence as serious about football as the SEC. Playing in the SEC against premier teams is a major advantage. Now both schools will have that card to.
