My feelings too. If bama doesn’t have the year they’re hoping for and we show improvement he may come to us for a decent price tag. Time will tell.

I'm torn when it comes to him. Don't get me wrong, phenomenal player and would absolutely love to have him. If some booster wants to pony up for him, by all means, go for it.

Just such an odd situation now with where QB recruiting is in the NIL era. Realistically, what are the odds that if he comes to Auburn he stays more than one year, assuming Deuce is as advertised? I know you can always play that game with anyone. Just an internal debate of could that money be better used elsewhere? Can never have too many good QB's, but when it comes to resource management, its a different game.

I am ready to see him live like I got to see Deuce live. Just from his highlights he seems to be a more gifted passer.

I am wait and see on his recruitment though. It's a positive he no longer considers Oregon.

Absolutely. Dude is a stud and we'd be incredibly lucky to have him. Can never have too many good QB's if you can get them.

I remember Jeremy Johnson. He was a future Heisman and the clear future until he wasn't. What Deuce did in HS and Spring practice is great but until he proves it on a college football field it's all just potential. Football and life also have some sides that don't need mentioned. I say recruit and sign the best qb you can and let everything else play out

Sounds great but like gocrazy said, it's not that simple. Yeah having 3 guys to battle it out would be ideal but not if it means you can't build up the roster around them. Prob gonna have to let him go for now. Hate this new world of cfb

It really depends on if Arnold has the type of season that he would leave for the draft. That frees up a lot of money if so. And that’s not to mention how much they’re paying the 3rd stringer from Stanford.

Thanks Savage for a sense of reason.

Gotta admit I was wrong about Landen, I say we blow the whole load of NIL money for a kid who will patiently wait on the bench for his time.

We dont need Vodney Cleveland, we just went to the portal for interior DL for shats and giggles this year.

Jase Mathews, forget it, none of our current receivers would ever think of leaving.

Tank Jones, who needs a strong side DL. Heck Keldrick will stay for two years apply for covid and stay three.

I agree with savage the aforementioned was sarcasm for those less gifted.

I have been researching and looking at scientific journals... all signs point to us winning the natty.

Freeze on War Rapport interview. Arnold will start, saw him in high school, very special and nothing has changed. Lost his mojo with all those injuries to players in OK but he got it back in the spring.

He is accurate, quick in decision making, and the right decisions.

Said in the portal it came down to us and two other teams and Arnold was salivating over our receivers.

Passed on the Manning camp to spend the time with the team, thats leadership.

Deuce is gonna be special but its Arnold starting heading into fall......and into the natty.

(I added the last part, but I think he felt it).............

Regarding Freeze interview, he said Malcolm Simmons grew leaps and bounds, he knows when to pace and when to run, etc. Gonna be special.

Then he said Perry made a lot of improvement as well.....but he has to learn to play every down, he has to understand the coverages he is seeing when he gets to the line of scrimmage. He has said this more than once about Perry. What is the problem? This isnt quantitative entanglement, its a few defensive backs on your side of the field. Maybe he is just trying to message the kid to get in the film room and study a little more.

To be fair, plenty of multi-year starting QB’s struggle with pre-snap coverage readings, and they do it pretty much their entire career. Thompson, the first time he was ever asked to do it was pretty much when he got on campus. Their HS offense was simple even for HS standards.

That’s not to say more dedication to film room or whatever may be needed and not taking blame away from him for not having it down, but diagnosing coverages just doesn’t come naturally for some either.

I hear ya go crazy, I just really really want to see Perry Thompson do well.

Regarding reading the defense as a receiver. I cant remember the playoff game but DeVonte Smith was split out and it was obvious the LBs were gonna blitz. He calmly looked at the LBs jumping at the line of scrimmage, purposely turned his head and looked at Matt Jones, then back at the LBs.

It was a clear non verbal, "forget what you called, Im running a hot route across the middle right where that LB should have been had he not blitzed". Ball snapped, crossing route, and he took it to the house. An absolute thing of beauty.

I think thats what Freeze means by reading the defense, hope he and all the receivers get it.
