The QB we have will never take a meaningful snap. We are wasting resources on him. Same as that 3* OLmen.

But this doesn't explain everything. Oklahoma State did the exact same thing and they are 3-1 and they beat Oregon. They hired North Texas' coach and he brought all of his North Texas players. So far their offense is scoring just like it was at North Texas. So this strategy is currently working elsewhere. Yes, Ok State is in the Big 12 and not the SEC, but its still a big jump up in competition.

Furthermore, over the last two years most of you couldn't stop talking about how Freeze should have brought in the New Mexico State group of offensive coaches + Pavia + the TE from their G5 roster. Vanderbilt did that, and it worked. So you can't pick and choose based off of hindsight when you think its good to bring in G5 players and coaches, and when its not. Last season most of you didn't want to give any credit whatsoever to Clarke Lea for Vandy's success, it was all the New Mexico State coaches on offense and their G5 QB (Pavia). But now we suck because we have a bunch of G5 coaches on offense?

Great analogy, Metafour. This should have worked. It works at other places. But, it doesn’t work here. Nothing works here. QBs forget how to throw and read defenses. Hell, ours forgot the playbook, forgot where his wide open receivers are on the field. Linemen forget how to block. DBs forget how to cover.

I’m convinced we’re cursed. What we're witnessing goes beyond a slump or a bad hire or two. In an age where you can reinvent your roster every year, and everyone around us gets better, we find ways to get worse.

There is ZERO imagination in our play calling. BB is a statue in the pocket who lacks the awareness to step up and deliver the football. At the first sign of pressure he drops his head and starts dancing. Are bootlegs a relic of old man football? Get the guy out on the edge to take advantage of his size!

The best comparison is Chizik's first year. We went 8-5, but you saw flashes of what could be. Golesh is no different than Freeze, and his recruiting isn't giving out good feels.

Not in the least. Bama ran one yesterday and it turned into a 20 yard score by the QB. He rolled out to his right, had guys in the pattern, had one he could have throw open for a touchdown, but he also had a wide open lane, so he took it, and walked in basically untouched.

The problem with Bama is DeBoer adjusted his approach and has the best OL in the country and found 3 RBs. They are going to be a handful for anyone.

The biggest problem I see is that we have no way to account for short yardage gains when the run game is non existent. We don’t run quick slants or any quick outs or stop routes. Theres very little if any screen game and shallow crosses don’t exist.. you have a better chance of seeing Bigfoot on game day than you do seeing Auburn throwing quick slants against db’s lined up 10 yards off our receivers. I don’t think I’ve seen one in 15 or 20 years

Please let's not compare Brown to Bama's QB Russell

Night and day. Two completely different players.

Crappy coaching. Crappy QB play. Crappy player recruitment and development.

Fans: OMG the offensive line!

I agree with your first sentence, but are you seriously trying to present the argument that our OL doesn't suck and is not a huge part of the problem?

That’s a great point! Why don’t we run slants? Or crossing routes? Why don’t we ever attack the middle of the field?

This goes back four Offensive Guru head coaches. It’s not just Comrade Golesh. It was Gus, and Harsin, and Freeze.

Four Offensive Gurus and we are consistently one of the most anemic offenses in college football.

I’m just glad we’re spending 308 million on some new stadium features. Idk what I’d do if I couldn’t watch Auburn go 5-7 in the finest stadium money can buy. I’d honestly stop everything and revaluate the whole program. 308 million could have moved Ryan Day here. It could have made most coaches come here. Instead we skimp and get Golesh and his crew and build some new student facilities in the stadium. I hate it here.

Nothing to add. This just needs posted again.

Heavy on the hate it here.

Because our short passing game is based around RPO. You either hand it off or swing it wide hoping a receiver can make someone miss. These other routes are timing routes based off of reading the lb’s, checking in and out of the route and taking advantage of what the defense gives you. We haven’t asked qb’s to do any of that going all the way back to Gus as the OC.. Our lack of running game and no intermediate passing game means our qb has to consistently complete 10 to 15 yard, low percentage pass plays which consists mainly of go routes and slow developing dig routes. Theres no post corner routes and I’ve never seen us throw the back shoulder fade that UGA and UA eat us alive with year after year.

I think Goulash can build a solid team. Im not sold he will be an elite coach anywhere but I think he can be a 9 win coach and build a good foundation.

The biggest thing I have noticed with the offense is we seem to play chicken shite and to not lose rather than aggressively and to put up points. Brown overthinks instead of slinging on instinct.

Where is this 2021/2022 UTenn offense under Golesh?

Instead It looks like a cloned Gus Bus is calling the plays.

In this league 9 wins may be his ceiling if he can’t develop an offense with some imagination and complexity.. I hate even saying this but if Auburn wants to win, they need to start looking for the nerdy white guy qb who can beat you with his mind more so than his legs. Those are the guys that force you to develop an offense instead of dumbing it down so you can rely on athletic ability to bail you out of a bad play. The Cams and the Nicks are the outliers and history says it will probably take you years to find the next one.
