From all the pictures I've seen, Wallace has definitely put on some good weight since last year. He looks a lot different than a kid right out of high school.

I saw him in the spring and he was way bigger than the twig he was in the fall

Not too many people as a true freshman cna look SEC material in our shitastic Loeffler/Chizik offense. Our Oline was John Sullen, Chad Slade and Reese "I'm probabl drunk right now" Dismukes, none of whom were even close to being mentioned in all sec teams despite all three being retruning starters. Let's also not forget that we started two freshman at our tackle positions, one of whom was significantly undersized at 280 playing a run blocker. So if you were to simply loko at John Wallace's season last year, he was pretty darn impressive.

Given my perception of his talent ceiling, in that he will never be Cam Newton, I thought he di pretty well all things considered.

You can blame the line and OC all day but he was a 2 star signing day special that was supposed to provide depth, not start at BDS.

Ill just be glad when NM is named the starter so everyone can move forward from the mess that is JW/KF.

no one knows how a guy develops... Wallace with two or three years of development (redshirt and learning the offense) could be a solid SEC QB by his RS Jr season. To peg guys based on a handful of starts as a TF in an already horrible offense is unfair to the player, IMO.

Just out of curiousity, do you guys think Nick Marshall would've moved last year's offense and/or won more games than Wallace?... I highly doubt he would've had any success under our pro-style abortion, yet he's this years savior.

First he was a 3 star and second, this comment is a effin joke. When do stars have anything to do with the field? I was getting stoked about Benton at WR for 3 years and how did that 5 star turn out? In fact, arguably our best players returning from last year were 2/3 stars (Tre Mason 3* 247, Jay Prosch-2*, Dee Ford 3*, Chris Davis 3*, CJ Uzomah 3* etc). So stop bashing the kid just because he wasn't highly recruited. Lots of guys that don't have NFL talent and were lowly rate had success at QB in D1

How in the world does this have even the slightest revelance to how he will turn out as a QB? RGIII was recruited by most schools as a non QB, I don't think what he was typically recruited for mattered to him.

I agree that I think NM is the most talented and if he can put it together has the chance to be somewhat special. I just don't see how your desire to escape last season should discredit the fact that JW, behind one of the cruddiest OLines in the SEC and as a true freshman managed to break our FR QB record and did solid as a game manager type QB. Fact is, for a freshman, Jonathan Wallace did not make mistakes. He isn't going to light anyone up but if you have a good team around him, he will help you win games due to the fact that he won't pull a Frazier and throw INTs

No, Jonathan Wallace will never, ever be a Cam Newton, throw 100 yard pass and then run over your DE on his way to becoming a heisman trophy winning stud. I just failed to realize when the F we ever needed that player. Alabama has had success with Greg McElroy and JPW, we had success before that with Brandon Cox who actively tried to lose us games sometimes and other teams like USCe, Ole Miss and Vandy are all projected to have great seasons and none of them have stars at QB. In fact, I would argue that Ole Miss and Vandy do not have QBs significantly better than JWall

So fricking pipe it with all your talk about how bad JWall is. He isn't going to wow you but we could do a lot worse and if he starts, he won't be the reason we lose games.

Ok...1. I will have an opinion just as much as you or anyone else so kiss my arse if you dont like it.

2. He was a 3 star...my bad, who signed in Feb and had one BCS team offer(Auburn).

If he was SEC calibar, he would have been rated higher and more big schools would have offered him. That is just the truth.

Every year players are brought on to play and others are brought on to provide depth...nothing more. Auburn just got themselves ina situatoin where the kid had to play against players much better than him and his performance showed...sucks for him but its true.

RGIII had offers from Nebraska and Tennessee...JW had offeres from Alcorn St and Jax St. There is a huge difference there.

He's not.

(Tre Mason 3* 247 - 4* on Rivals, that's who I use, Jay Prosch-2* - A damn fullback, could've been a walk-on, Dee Ford 3* - weighed 190 lbs as a HS Sr, had SIX whole sacks last season!! :rolls eyes:, Chris Davis 3* - ZERO career ints, CJ Uzomah 3* - maybe 10 career catches?

Who's the success story other than the 4* RB in that group?

RGIII was recruited by most schools as a non QB

*clap clap clapclapclap* OVER-RATED

I'm saying all that to say this...

Jonathan Wallace CAN NOT frickING THROW.

THE. END.

No reason to get so crabby over a differing opinion. There are posters who think Tre Mason sucks, Chad Slade sucks, our WR suck, Gus sucks, etc.

JW is ok but I doubt he starts, just my opinion. If he starts after bringing in NM from JuCo then I'll be extremely surprised and honestly quite sad that the JuCo couldnt beat him out and the coaches struck out.

I dont' think JWall starts but he isn't getting his fair shake and I have no idea why. He somehow was a bright spot against top 5 teams when the rest of the team quit like a bunch of baby back bitches. He may not be ubertalented but at least give him some credit and an opportunity because we could definitely win games if has progressed and our team around him is good

It just gets old hearing how horrible Jonathan Wallace is when he doesn't deserve it. In his position, he actually has a pretty solid resume. People are acting like he pulled a Frazier and lost us the games. It is just a topic that is :beatdeadhorse: I just want to move on from it

Also, considernig those players named by me earlier are considering our best returning players, it is impressive so many are 3*s when we have had consecutive top 10 recruiting classes under Chizik aka our entire team. Prosch is a former all american, CJ Uzomah is expected to be one of our best receiving targets, Chris Davis was sent to media days, Dee Ford is our best defensive player returning) Wasn't a lot to choose from and all of them were the 3*s not 4*s

If he was SEC calibar, he would have been rated higher and more big schools would have offered him. That is just the truth.

Aaron Rodgers, Colin Kaepernick, Russell Wilson (2*), Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler and Tony Romo were all underrecruited <3* QBs out of HS

Those are off the top of my head. Where you are recruited and what ranking you have has zero bearing
