Hope so.

The crazy thing about this is we just had the best defensive tackle in the nation and the top DT in the draft. You would think if Coynis really wanted it, he would look at Derrick Brown and think “you know, maybe I should listen to coach G”

Some kids don't get it until it is too late. There are many you see in the work force that think they can skate by and when they are passed over by people who work harder or increase their knowledge they are looking for a way out. Some later in life start to get it...others just don't...but they waste their talent or they are just not interested in that line of work anymore..

FIFY. Let's not even try to pretend the real world is purely
meritocratic. There are a lot of fricking idiot who gets jobs and keep jobs by being friends with the guy in charge.

Sapp played a lot of positions in high school but primarily TE. Put on a lot of weight played at 6 foot 2 inches and 300 lbs and was known for his cat like quickness for a man his size........hmmmmm.

We seem awfully crowded at TE/HB and lots of opportunity on the interior of the DL....Im just sayin.

Hope we are both right.

i get what you are saying, but that also applies to sports in some cases also..depending upon the team and coach or who the parent is...see it happening at the HS level and below...

Good for Marlon. There are articles dating back to his true freshman year lauding his EFFORT. He is a big, strong freak of an athlete but so is everybody in the SEC and NFL. The effort part will take him as far as he wants to go!

frick Coynis Miller. He will be sitting on a front porch in the ghetto talking about how Auburn fricked him in 20 years. Typical loser mentality... That type of person usually peaks in high school.

90 play scrimmage today plus live punt, punt block, kick return, and FG. All QBs live except Bo.

Shivers big play 80 yard touchdown reception

0 positive test this week

3 turnovers 2 INT

Malcolm Johnson jr and Chapman will start practice this week.

Williams and Shiver ran with the 1s today. Lots of passing to the RBs on free release.

Gus seems to have calm confidence in the OL from some reason. Said Tank and MAR both have big play ability.

50-50 run pass today. Next Saturday will be 2 minute and backed up situations. The 4th scrimmage will depend on need and for the younger players.

Does anyone else, barring injury, think we have a chance to be really good this year? We don't have any huge alpha dogs like last year, but we seem to be solid across the board.

Too many question marks.

DL is low on experience but solid on talent. Defense overall won’t be as dominant but should be good.

Offense is the major concern for another season. OL is low on talent and experience. Not sure what to expect on offense as a whole

I just worry about who is going to be the offensive guy. Who is going to carry that load. We dont have a Running back right now that seems to be "The Guy". Gus needs one of those. And other than Seth, our wide outs are marginal.

With the O line being new, I would be nervous about saying we will be really good. I think we are a 7-3 or at best 8-2 with the schedule.

Defense should be good.

We say the OL isn't as talented (I am one of those) but the projected starters were 4* sans Hamm. Our RB talent will be the best in Gus tenure. Both are inexperienced, I will admit. Our LBers will be the anchor. DL should be solid, but will take a step back. DBs should be more talented, but less experience.

That’s a fair point. Tega and Driscoll were draft picks though. I like Council. Trox and Hamm should be fine. Brahms really needs to prove it this season and we’ll see how the other guard spot plays out.

The OL doesn’t have much room to be worse

Brahms was put in a tough spot last year due to injuries. That experience could pay dividends this year.

This - Driscoll and Tega being drafted are red herrings, because as a unit our OL is at worst equal to last year. I think Morris utilizing the TE and RBs catching out of the backfield will help both the OL settle down, but also Bo. I expect Bo to make a tremendous jump this year.

Defense loses one of the best players in college football, but I think overall we are more athletic from front to back. Hoping that helps with a ‘see ball, get ball’ mentality since no spring ball and a weird August camp.

Overall, I’m optimistically bullish on this team. Agree 8-2 is a great, great year. Just too many unknowns right now - Covid included- to expect anything more. But it would be very Auburn to run the table this year only to have a CFP shutdown due to a second corona wave

8-2 could be a playoff team this year though.

I think Morris' offense which includes throws to RBs and TEs WILL allow the OL to not have to hold longer on their blocks. In the past it seems Gus would call much longer pass patterns which seemed to make our QB to have to escape the rush.

So i hope to see more positive gains on drives...
