Eliminating the Wildcat will show me we are really in a new offense.

That will never happen with Gus here. Plus, it was very effective for us lately in the red zone. Whitlow was excellent with that play

We have had dudes in the past that you could count on to get the necessary yardage almost every time they ran it. But we've also had some that were consistently stuffed.

Pete Thamel
@PeteThamel
Sources: SEC expected to adopt a 53-player minimum to play games this season. A distinction here is that it’s 53 scholarship players. That’s expected to include minimum of 1 QB, 7 OL and 4 DL. This is still pending final approval, but headed that way.

Would Chandler Cox have counted as a QB?

Thamel is an idiot. I trust none of his sources. Why would you cut the roster when you could have players out because of injury or sickness.

...it says 53-player minimum, right? How is that cutting the roster?

He's saying teams will have to have a minimum of 53 scholarship players available to be able to play.

Which makes sense. If Covid hits your team, you better have at least 53 players available or you aren't playing.

The position player requirements sounds about right. The Big 12 and I think the ACC already have requirements that you must have at least 7 OL available to play(If you don't you are going to get your QB hurt for sure).

4 DL is super thin. Imagine having to put a few walk ons up against bama or uga's starting offensive lines. It'd be pointless.

Your offense sure isn't gonna want to play fast if you only have 4 DL. This is going to be an interesting season.

Bust Cat Bryant was named 1st team pre-season All SEC. Must be voting on name recognition alone.

Except he was already a starter last year? Not to mention we haven't had a pass rush since Sensei Mud... How is he afforded more opportunity now than he was last season?

Not related to Jones comment (mainly because I don't want someone complain again about me not talking specifically about fall camp...)

Is anyone other than me taken aback by DJ Williams saying that he didn't see the RB job as a competition? I mean I get that they look at it as one RB room, but it IS a competition. I guess that's why we haven't seemed to hear DJs name so far this camp...

Or am I looking at this completely off base?

Bust...really....Big Kat has been pretty productive and is expected to take that next step this year. He led the team in hurries last year. Just needs to finish.

6 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Yeah what an amazing player.

We hear that every year. Get back to me when he finally makes a sack in SEC play.

I heard the broadcaster last night mention Carl Lawson’s pass rush was too wide allowing the easy escape by Mayfield. He had that same criticism at Auburn: Big Kat is great at hurries too, but he either whiffs or he takes himself out of plays.
