I buy tickets and licensed merch occasionally and give a little money to the academic side of the house when one of the nice students calls me during one of their (seemingly endless) campaigns, but I can’t see giving to NIL. Making entitled teens rich just so they can haul arse to another school for an extra buck at the drop of a hat is not my way of “giving back” but if you give to OTV good on ya. I’m glad people do.

As a former student athlete in college, I love NIL. The NCAA doesn’t allow you to have a job when other kids can, and you’re sitting in your dorm or apartment all the time because you don’t have any money.

You're posting on an Auburn sports message board at 2:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and calling others weird for being into Auburn football?

No. Try and keep up.

I said I wasn't giving money to the Auburn NIL and got accused of not being a super duper fan.

Has nothing to do with being on a message board at 2:30 on a Wednesday.

And yeah, it's a little weird when you know family memebers of recruits and their life stories and stuff like that. That's a little too deep for me.

I used to be that way years ago, but then I came to my senses and stopped taking college athletics seriously.

Yeah, I pull for Auburn in every sport. And that's the extent of what I do now.

I’m guessing only a few get rich off of NIL, and even then I’m guessing it’s because of multiple third party NIL deals not affiliated with OTV. OTV is trying to help all student athletes right. Does Dylan Cardwell have a car? Probably. Is he rich? Probably not. Willl he have a deep NBA career? Probably not. But he is a fan favorite.

I contribute, I have disposable income and spend it on things I enjoy like golf, traveling, and Auburn sports. Anyone on a teams message board is in the top percent of obsessed fans so to act like you’re better than that is a little asinine.

I do the $34. I already spend $1k or so with the tailgate BS. Luckily my father gets the tickets, so I'm not spending much relative to his investment.

I would have probably bumped to the next level if we hired someone on my list. Yep, I'm petty.

Explaining to those students that I'm already bankrolling a student or students at AU always makes them understand they're barking up the wrong tree.

The NIL, I'm not a fan. I was feeling good from a few beers and happy we fired Harsin & I was watching a B-ball game, while surfing the coaching search threads. I signed up. If every fan that could gave just a little, it'd be cool to see what would happen.

I don’t see It as a pissing match to fandom. But if you have it to give throw a few bucks. If you don’t then don’t.

But if you as a fan want our team to compete with
UGA and Bama you should be willing to what their fans are willing to do.

I think I heard an interview with OTV and they said there were 1.4 million “dye hard” Auburn fans. If all gave a little it would be a lot.

Clemson has been all over grassroots donations and their program is successful. All before NIL. I don’t know why other fanbases don’t do it. Clemon’s program is literally called “I Pay Ten A Year”. Their boosters and average fan fork over 38 million a year in donations.

So would people contribute to fancy buildings, if not NIL?

I have a theory grassroots donation is discouraged because boosters dont want to chance losing their leverage.

I think Auburn does fine in fundraising they had a 1 billion dollar fundraising plan just a few years ago that was successful.

This is a totally different beast all together.

But as the saying goes you get what you pay for.

(This from a guy that is totally against paying players but if it’s there we have to, to be able to compete)

I’d be much more likely to contribute to a capital campaign for major JHS Reno than subscribing to NIL. Maybe irrational but idc

nitpicking but I always thought it was "Thirty a Year" for Clemson.

Where's the link for Auburn to send some money? If it's easy like a GoFundMe, I might throw some money their way.

2 kids. Travel basketball, travel soccer, academy tennis, baseball lessons, soon to be travel baseball. 2 old dogs, 1 with almost weekly trips to the vet to get her through the holidays. Everything costs more, nobody pays more. NIL isn't my priority right now. Make me less an alum or fan?

It didn’t make you less of a fan when NIL wasn’t a thing so it shouldn’t now.

People forget not everyone is in a place to donate monthly or even one time. I donate but I wouldn’t hold anything against others who don’t want to or can’t.

I think it’s silly to bash Dan, just as silly as Dan bashing others for being more involved with something than him. I donate in honor of my step dad who passed. He donated all the time and had booster seating because he loved Auburn, and he had funds to give back to a place that helped him make his dreams come true.

Everyone has a right to be a fan and do it at a level that they wish short of being a stalker and shite like that. I don’t know why we have to draw lines and absolutes for others here. I believe others can be just as big of fans and still care but not donate. They watch, buy gear, sometimes go to games. We don’t need a litmus test or you better do this or you suck kind of thinking.

If you can or want to, do. If can’t or don’t want to, don’t. WDE! To the lot of you
