You mean like Hugh Freeze?
This rhetoric has proven to mean absolutely nothing in reality in terms of success/failure. All it does is make your coaching search even less likely to succeed by limiting the options.
What SEC experience did Eli Drinkwitz have? His one season as a QC assistant at Auburn? Did Dan Lanning have PAC12 experience going all the way to Eugene, Oregon?
Good coaches will win anywhere.

What SEC experience did Saban, Meyer, etc. have? That is such an overblown thing. Harsin didn’t work because he just refused to recruit. It had nothing to do with him having no SEC experience.

I hated this hire from the beginning. Hopefully Jimmy Rane has enjoyed his time rubbing wieners with the current Auburn coach.

I've been thinking I really like this guy since last season.
Hugh deserved a long leash given the state our program was in, but today's shite show lost a lot of my respect
What a difference a fricking week makes...

If you can pay Kiffin a huge bag and give him a nice portal budget then he would turn this around next year.
BUT we won’t do that and Kiffin would be dumb to go to Auburn. Auburn will end up with Durkin, Sumrall, or some other silly shite. The sad thing is that I’m not sure I can even look forward to basketball season anymore.

Sec experience could matter less to me. I said I want someone doing it in the SEC now.

Now, I've admittedly, been drinking but I need some help understanding this sentence.

I don’t care if they did it ten years ago in the SEC and are doing it at a small school now at a high level. I want a guy who is in the SEC currently or BIG10 worst that is consistently having a good team. Pay him top 3 money and give him control.

Hell no. I'll agree with paying top 3 money for someone who's proven to earn top 3 money for us. Pay for what you get, not for what you hope.

That’s what I said pay someone who’s consistently doing it NOW top three money.

We're talking past each other and I'm pouring another drink.

When freaking Indiana is paying their head coach 8 mil a year you aren't grabbing someone because you are paying them more. Not unless they are someone we don't need like Kelly at LSU or Lincoln Riley who are running away from their jobs. Not to mention we wouldn't be able to afford NIL if we did so.
We are far better off rolling the dice on a top OC or DC than overpaying and getting stuck paying someone 10 mil a year for ten years no matter what they do.

Except that a guy who is already doing it now in the SEC isn't going to leave the job he is already doing it now at to come and rebuild Auburn.
These types of suggestions always make me roll my eyes because it is a completely tone-deaf suggestion, as proven by other schools in this conference who also can't do what you are suggesting. Alabama coming off the most dominant run in history with a ready-made roster couldn't even do it, and they had to follow Saban with a guy with just two seasons of performance in the PAC12. Sure, DeBoer's two seasons at Washington were elite, but its not a big track record and they had to gamble on a guy from way out of conference.
If this was as easy as you make it sound, why has Florida had 4 straight fail hires post Urban Meyer? shite, one of those guys (Mullen) WAS a guy "who had done it in the SEC" and even he tanked within 4 seasons.

forget Kiff, he’s not leaving Oxford no matter how much money they throw at him
forget anyone who’s a “proven winner” at an SEC/B1G school, no one will leave a place where they’re already established and making a top 25 salary
but also pay no attention to the “no one good will come to this dumpster fire” because schools with recent histories as bad as ours have done alright for themselves (we played one yesterday)
the truth is that NIL/portal has changed the CFB landscape completely, and the programs that are successful now and will be in the future are the ones who recognize and embrace that
i can’t say who would be the best candidates to seek out - but that is immaterial so long as AU is allowing the boosters call all the shots - yeah, that brought us a title in 2010 and a near miss in 2013, but it also brought us to where we are today

Apparently they thought Harsin was a good coach who could also win anywhere. How did that work out again?

When does Lashlee get here?
We probably interview Bobo.
Interviews:
Bobo
Lashlee
Chip Kelly
Applewhite
Whoever it is will be underwhelming at best.
