We'll need a lot more than a QB to beat Clemson....

I love Nick but he is not in the same realm as Deshaun as a QB.

And our coaches dropped the ball for not having our players motivated in 2014.

In '14, Marshall threw for 456 yards and 3 TDs with another 50 yards on the ground against Bama.

What realm are you speaking of, baw?

I have white knighted for Nick Marshall on this board more than anyone. He was awesome and extremely underappreciated by our fans.

That said, Watson is clearly a step above Marshall. Just not big enough of a step for our 2014 season the ended much differently

If we get a QB we can play with anybody. Problem is, we don't have one.

With how our defense finished the year, I completely agree. We shouuld be able to score 28+ against everyone

I've always wondered, if Auburn went 10-3 with Ws over TAMU/Wisconsin, how does our AU fan psyche change? I think we'd be sold on JF3 and chalk 2015 up to QBs not performing to ability

I agree that Watson is better. I think that's clear

I've wondered the same... 10 wins was easily attainable. Granted, we were fortunate to beat ole miss.

I disagree with the thought about Ole Miss...there was 1:30 left and we were scoring at will on them.

I don't know if it would mean we were sold on JF3 but I still chalk 2015 up to the QB issues.

Going 10-3 the year before would help a little but I don't think things would be a whole lot different now. Gus still has to get a QB in he can win with going forward.

I have felt like there is genuine concern that Gus can't right the ship. There are some writers whove speculated that if Gus goes 6-6 or worse, he gets canned

If we went 10-3 in 2014, I think the general attitude would be way different. We'd buy into Gus just needing a QB rather than he may not find one

Possibly, I just kind of write 2014 off to bad luck of having one of the hardest schedules of all time.

The A&M game was backbreaking but it was understandable considering where it fell in the schedule and even after we got caught with our pants down we still came back and should have wont the game. That was a total fluke and from there things just kinda spiraled once our goals were not achievable.

We had the super letdown against UGA which was not really acceptable and then came back and battled bama but left too many points on the field and then I just think we didn't gaf during the bowl game and our receivers were out.

A lot of excuses there, and the season was def a huge letdown, but it was understandable at least somewhat to me.

I think if 2014 had 2015 schedule we are at worst 11-1 regular season.

It will take 2 generations for Auburn to get over the Barfield days attitude.

IF your are going to get the runner up NAtional Champions with the best QB in the nation going in, then getting them first game is way better than at any other time of the year.

But we will probably lose, but it will be the best measuring stick for getting better. And if you are competitive, playing THIS type of game first, is teh best motivator to the players than Eastern West College type teams...))

We are well on our way to the second generation removed from the 70s... Hell, I'm 31 and can barely remember pat dye as a coach...

That mindset should be over

we gave bama a good scare with "Full retard, the QB" at QB and if we dont spot them 30 yards near the end, who knows what might have happened.

We will at less get press and have something to hype and get ready for in the first game. I'd rather play #2 in non conference than an unranked dangerous trap team. My point is...this turns out to be a huge game on the schedule.
