should we be panicking now?

No. Panic or don't once the portal is closed and we know who we actually retain/lose/get.

Hell, Florida just had their Freshman AA DE declare he is going to the portal. This is the current state of the game.

why in Gods name can't this school just have a genuine QB competition and stop promising Jobs to kids who haven't earned it?

Do you have any real reason to believe that is not going to be the case?

At this point, I think it is far more plausible that a bunch of players that thought they'd be guaranteed a starting spot or had been, are being told they will have to prove they deserve it.

I'm just trying to figure out if someone has some credible information that he's leaving because there's not going to be a quarterback competition. That is what his post came off as.

There isn't anything. Just speculation and more speculation.

Oh I know. I have officially reached (and it has been heading this way since there was an unrestricted portal) the point of not vesting in any Auburn sports teams. It sucks because college sports, particularly football, was the existence of my sports world…and the Braves.

This whole state of college sports is absolute crap. I caught myself freeing up Saturdays for hunting about the time the portal went crazy. Now, I think I’m about to the point of no return.

Sad.

I hope that is not the case, because we pay a coach to make the personell decisions, not the WR.

Start letting players dictate who the starters are and it will never work out well.

Yepppp. It sucks to lose generational talent but as we saw the past two years, generational talent can still lose football games.

From hoke

Per sources, Coleman’s NIL offer from Auburn was well north of $2 million. While Auburn personnel felt optimistic about the conversations, there was a sense his agent preferred he end up elsewhere. Ultimately, Coleman needed to feel comfortable with the new coaching staff and the projected starting quarterback, and that didn’t happen.

Makes total sense.

It is really hard to give a shite about a sport that has free agency yearly. It is insanity. These players are absolutely just hard core pros (more pro than the pros in the pro leagues) now. When I watch Auburn football from now on, I will not hold back on them. Careless arse fumble to lose to your rival at the end of the game, I'm not taking up for you anymore.

I had been told at the Iron Bowl that the number for him was going to be close to $3M and at the time we were battling OSU hard. Going to be an interesting one to see how it all plays out.

So will he get to dictate who throws to him in the league?

Of course, somewhere else that pays more means bigger cut for agent.

Do we know who this agent is?

Edit--- I was curious, is his agent a professional or is it one of those 20 year olds you alluded to as being an "agent"?

I don’t give a shite what any of these morons do. Y’all got to quit following the portal bullshite. Being held emotionally hostage for 3.5 hours for 12 Saturdays a year is enough.

Don't even care. I was not impressed at all with the effort he put forth. There were a lot of catches that he should have made.

If he makes it to free agency as one of the top WRs available, yes he will.

That's exactly what's happening here
