He definitely showed he would step in the pocket and take a lick while delivering a well placed ball....

His accuracy is worst than Bo’s.

Was your sample size a 98 yard drive, too?

I warned y’all about this shite.

He’s not elite but he’s definitely an upgrade. If we end up also getting Williams then great, but I’m glad we didn’t put all our eggs in that basket. His stats suck but his WRs at aTm were just as bad as ours. His adjusted completion percentage is over 70%.

Hope we are still able to snag an elite guy, but glad our fallback is now Calzada and not Finley.

Wow. Ainias sucks? Wydermeyer is the best TE in nation. His ol was above average.

This right here. Who knows, he could develop into something good. Glad we got him but not excited.

Edit - I would be excited to land one of the 5 or so transfer QBs. Recognize that's probably not realistic but we have a huge need. Not setting my expectations too high with any QB on our current roster.

Did you even watch aTm? They had serious drop issues.

Had less yards and averaged leas yards per catch than Shed Jackson. Elite

Not even close. Isn’t even the best TE in the conference.

Made ALL SEC team all three years. Probably a first round pick in the NFL.

I’ve seen you blame a pass straight out of bounds on the receiver. What do you even know about drops?

A&M is projected to have three first round NFL draft picks from offensive side this year

And Bo still dunks on Calzada.

I forgot jang was the football savant of this board from his days of 3A football

Bro I’m honored at the need to follow me around on here, but I can’t keep letting you flirt with me. Otherwise LCT is going to post another Tyson meme.

You can’t get banned for telling the truth. If you can, don’t ever bitch about Facebook or Twitter.

There is so much wrong in this. First off, have you watched any of his games? If you look at LSU and AU games alone, 2 of hi "bad" games statistically, you will see that stats don't tell the real story.

Thse two games alone he was 35 of 64 for 54%

Of his 29 incompletions...

10 were straight drops by the WR on good throws..
3 were tipped passes at LOS
3 were throw aways
3 were broken up by DBs but were accurate throws
at least 1 was a miscommunication on the route

of the 9 remaining, most were overthrows and uncatchable.

I am no expert, but here is my take.

The Good...

A lot of people mention his release in a bad way, I think he actually has a very good release. The ball comes out fast. He has a nice turn over on his deep balls. He has a cannon too and is a better deep ball thrower than we have had in a minute.

For the most part, he puts the ball in a position for the WR to catch and make a football play. Especially on the short stuff like dump offs to RBs or screens which is important because the guys need to catch it in stride. Part of why Mac Jones was so good for Bama.

He has pretty solid footwork in his drops. He does tend to throw off his back foot a good bit, but appears much more accurate when he does than Nix. (it also isn't as frequent imo)

HE does seem capable of going through progressions.

He isn't Bo in terms of terms of escaping the pocket, but he isn't a statue like TJ either. He is more than capable of extending plays when needed.

His pocket awareness is decent, but could always improve.

The Bad....

He tends to get a little happy feet at times and likes to bounce a bt much for my liking, but Im honestly probably nit picking.

He needs to look off his WRs a little better IMO. There are some plays where he does this well, but you can also find plays where he stairs his man down from the snap.

He needs work on throwing angles and windows. He tends to get passes tipped at the LOS.

Makes a few questionable throws each game in terms of decision. I actually like it because if you watch his games, he also threads the needle in key times because of his willingness to take a chance and ends up making huge plays.

I think he is better off at this point than Bo was by far. With a full spring, summer, and fall camp I expect Harsin and Davis to have a legit QB1 of SEC caliber by fall if this is the guy we roll with. The tools are there.

Apply your same methodology to every QB in the country. Do we have to do this? "Stats don't tell the real story.." Bo Nix was average and his teammates didn't like him. One might be forgivabable but the fact he just wasn't that good, and also wan't liked led to why we are here.

It doesn’t take a savant to understand that over the shoulder basket catches to balls way out of bounds cannot be expected to be brought down. It’s just common sense stuff.

2nd. 2nd ranked TE prospect in the whole country. He probably could’ve been 1st team if he had a decent QB.

It amazes me at the number of Auburn fans who are never happy about anything.

Calzada showed flashes of being a damn good QB in his first year of playing. I am glad to have him and welcome him to the Auburn family.

The 24/7 board is unbearable. Fans have become entirely unreasonable for future expectations. Always looking for negatives.

I like Calzada. Let's give all QBs the spring and see what shakes out with extra reps and training.

jang, Bo is gone. He left for one reason or another. Stop trying to bring Bo into every QB discussion.

People talk about Bo like he was a championship caliber QB that got no support. The reality is he played to the level of everyone else 90% of the time. He was a passenger in the offense for most of his career. There were very few (any) games where Bo balled out but was let down by the team. Those where he was exceptional based on his standard we won. LSU, for example. And he rightfully got universal praise for that gutsy performance.

Now I don't have any real reason to think Calzada is an upgrade there, but if he's someone who will have better chemistry with the team and will become a genuine leader with improved performance (with good coaching) in time - that's more upside for our situation.

I have seen you defend Bo up, down and sideways since the day he left. I thought he caught more crap than he deserved, but he is gone. It's time to stop comparing him to every QB being mentioned. It really brings nothing to any conversation about our QB situation.

Unfortunately you only saw inexperienced Bo and Bo without an offense.

He had like an 82 PFF grade this year against Georgia. There was a reason why the AD hugged him after the game. At the time we led the whole country in drops and couldn’t block. I don’t know what you expect.
