Yes, he “quit” to go to A&M just like Bill Curry “quit” to go to Kentucky.

Dennis had a contract extension with Bama waiting for him to sign when he bailed for College Station.

Curry had one too, but didn't like the terms:
quote:

But the relationship between Curry and Ingram reached its iciest point later in December, when Curry was given the terms of a contract extension he so desperately wanted. Rather than giving him job security, Curry said, the new agreement restricted his power to effectively run his program.

It included no mention of a raise, stripped him of his ability to hire and fire assistant coaches, and relieved the university of all previous commitments to guarantee his outside income should Alabama decide to fire him, which, according to the contract, it could have at any time and without reason.

It was shortly after reading the terms of the new contract that Curry decided to talk about the Kentucky opening with C.M. Newton, UK’s persistent athletic director.

I guess Curry has the best case to say he was R-U-N-N-O-F-T by the Bama PTB. At least they didn't try to say he was abusing players or screwing his female staff.

I’ll never understand why Auburn fans are so desperate to shite on the PTB that are Auburn fans that pour money into Auburn athletics instead of the a-hole 6-7 coach that has no support past the potato gang.

You have a coach you need to let him do his thing and get the frick out of the way. At the end of three or four years if you don’t like the results then fire him. But not 13 months after he got there just because you get your wittle feelings hurt because you didn’t get what you want. And certainly not starting salacious rumors about him just so you can play “gotcha” Or “we’re we’re too far down the road now to turn back”. It’s all a sham to feed the egos of these assholes that push their weight around and don’t let people do the jobs I’ve been hired to do.

But you also have to play damage control in situations like these. If keeping him makes us look bad.

Keeping a guy that’s only been there 13 months makes us look bad? Or firing a guy because you “don’t like him“. His first recruiting class was number 18 in the country. Not great, but not disastrous. Let the guy to do his thing. I really hate Auburn runs things.
Because of these assholes we’re going to suck for a long long long time. Who in their right mind would take this gig right now?

I didn't say we were in a good spot either way but keeping him right now is worse than firing him. Auburn is already known for firing coaches on a whiff. But now they have a coach that is known as not caring about his players or assistants. You have to find coaches to work with him too and they hear the stuff about him too. No lower assistant trying to work their way up is going to want to work for someone that doesn't care about their input or let them coach their way.

The best way we come out of this is we luck up and find a coach that could turn this talent into a decent team and excite recruits.

Can someone point me to what the PTB have done over the years that is so horrible to cause all this crying? Other than Jetgate. And stuff we have facts on, not what you heard from your buddies.

JGT’s latest post:

-Harsin returns home Wednesday.
-All 14 SEC coaches are supposed to meet in Birmingham on Thursday for a previously scheduled event. (Awkward)
- He expects Gogue’s investigation to wrap up by Wednesday
- The scope of the investigation hasn’t widened past initial expectation: current players, former players, current coaches, former AU coaches, off the field support staff
- Mood around Auburn is still leaning Harsin is gone.
- The program has grounded to a halt for obvious reasons
-Unofficial cursory contacts (feelers) are being gathered in case Harsin is fired.
- He does not believe Kevin Steele will be a target.

With regards to former players and coaches, do we not do exit interviews?

1. Hiring Leath
2. The subsequent agreement to make Leath to go away
3. Gus' extension
4. The 14 million dollar tv
5. The bullshite we're going through right now

Just a few off the top of my head

You have "fans" blasting former players who did nothing but voice honest critique. And their critiques were actually very mild

Exactly. So what's your point? We fire a guy over some mild critiques? You're arguing against your own cause here.

ALL of this is because of social media and the transfer portal. Players now can leave for any reason at all, and many will just because they can. In the old days, transferring was a big deal. You had to sit out and you often had restrictions on the schools you could go to, etc.

And now we have social media where players can run their mouths endlessly. In the old days, players would have no outlet to bash a coach (even if they genuinely didn't like him). They either put up with it or quit the team and went away.

And I don't buy this narrative of "OMG 20 players transferred." And? Bama had 18 transfer and they played for a fricking national title. Georgia WON the national title and had a good number of transfers. It is what it is. It's the new normal in football. You can expect 15-20 transfers every season.

Players, no.

Coaches that leave and take a $400,000 cut in pay get interviewed. No inside info, but don’t think Mason gave a glowing recommendation.

Mason left before he took the OSU job.

Alabama had the number 2 ranked recruiting class and three top rated transfers committed to them

Georgia had the number 3 ranked signing class and only lost 8 transfers

How many fricking times do I have to say apples to oranges?

Whoever threw around baseless rumors about Harsin having an affair should be ashamed, but blaming it on kids transferring when they don't like the situation they're in doesn't make sense.

If you had a kid playing at Auburn or about to graduate HS would you want him in this situation? Is your argument that players shouldn't be allowed to transfer if they don't like the new head coach? That they shouldn't be allowed to use social media? If they embarrass themselves they end up with egg on their face but it's pretty clear that a lot of the players didn't like him.

We had our starting QB and top WR transfer. Our best player Tank was about to transfer and was talked off the ledge. Comparing our transfers to AL and GA is apples to oranges.

We fired the WR coach midseason
We fired the OC at the end of the season
The replacement OC immediately left the program
The DC left for a less prestigious program for less money
These are all Harsin's hires... that's an insane amount of turnover.

Edit: Uh oh I'm on the same side as Jang am I going to get struck by lightening now?

*Sigh*

Complaints against Harsin were filed by both players and staff.

This does NOT mean that those complaints were made by the players who made the "mild" comments (ie: Smoke, Kobe, etc). All I was saying is that it was fricking bush-league to call these players pussies because *gasp* they had the audacity to say that Harsin has personality problems.

He's NOT being investigated over what Smoke Monday had to say about him on Twitter.

Does that make sense? The complaints could be 100x worse than whatever Smoke Monday said.

The fact that it's been like 4 days and some of you can't even understand the basics of what is happening and yet are here giving your expert opinions is mindblowing. There are REAL ALLEGATIONS that were FILED against Harsin TO THE UNIVERSITY. THAT INCLUDES STAFF COMPLAINTS.
