I keep receipts of the stupid shite you say but please tell me what threads I’ve bumped?

As for my dedication, you should try it. Most of y’all have tried to tell me why Auburn was riding with Calzada and then Finley, and then Ashford. All of em.

Could’ve just rode with the superior talent.

Yep. Promoting your buddy to OC, and his next job was working for a trucking company. Those were some bad times.

At my previous job, I had a few occasions to deal with Hugh in his capacity at Southern Ag. I never broached the subject with him but I suspect he'd admit he was in over his head. He's a super nice guy.

Maybe he’s mellowed with age.

As a coach at Auburn (pertaining only to interactions with the general public) he was a dick.

I always heard he was a good guy, but in that situation it was classic, not what you know, but who you know.

Good list.

Glad you bumped the thread. Don't let the LSU loss, bad coaching, poor play, hurricanes, or bad post-game traffic distract anyone from the fact that we need to go out and get Prime.

Also, I keep hearing people say here, elsewhere, media, etc. how bad Auburn has treated Harsin. I have one question, how has Harsin treated us?

Yeah that shite's getting old. It's only because they know we are about to dump him.

It's amazing how good everyone said Gus was once we fired him too after 6-7 years of bashing him.

Remember how incredulous the national media was, after we fired Chizik?

Wisconsin just paid 16 to dump their loser. No whining of buyouts.

I have to think it's factoring into the termination timing. It'll be harder to paint Auburn as dysfunctional and unrealistic if we're 3-3 coming off another embarrassing blowout or 3-4 having lost 3 straight conference games.

They'll try, I just don't think the punches will land very well. SEC fans already get it and generally think we should fire Harsin now (8 games of averaging under 3 points in the second half will do that). But for casual fans and media, waiting two weeks probably helps.

McElroy was talking Harsin to Colorado. Any chance of the 2 sides working something out with a reduced buyout and us letting him "resign" to take another job?

I don’t see him taking anything less than he is entitled to after enduring the character attack from our boosters earlier this year. He’s going to want every penny he can get.

Outside of Jameis years, he had a couple of good seasons but also some very mediocre seasons. However annoying you may find him or dislike him, Jameis was a very very very good college qb who only lost one game as a starter. He made jimbo look really good.

Can't really just throw out years with a Coach's best player who he recruited and developed when coaches are usually at a program ~5-7 years when they're good... "outside of the TT years... Urban was only alright at FL"... "without TL or DW, Dabo has been mediocre at Clemson"...

It's one thing when the staff sort of lucks into someone like Cam or even NM, it's another when he's recruited and developed. Developing Heisman caliber players is a huge part of being a top tier coach.

Give him the "dignity" of resigning over getting canned

Yep... I would

Maybe if he a coaching job fully lined up and a deal is negotiated behind the scenes... but who would resign to leave $15mm on the table to preserve "dignity"... I guess there's a chance one of the other schools looking for a coach is interested him and if he left by choice the buyout is obviously void. We could waive anything we'd be owed.

Still pay him part of it, void what Colorado owes us, facilitate both sides getting done what needs to be done.

I can't imagine he thinks there's any chance he's back next season.

We already know he isn't recruiting during any downtime, let him do zoom interviews instead.

Colorado is very progressive, 420 friendly. Their swinging lifestyle would probably flourish out there. It's a dream destination for them.

I’m not throwing out those years with Jameis, I’m just sharing an observation.

Thats true, but I don’t think it necessarily applies to Jimbo / Jameis.

He was the #1 QB prospect out of highschool when he signed with F$U, a pure physical talent with great improvisational skills. Give Jimbo credit for signing him, but how much did he actually “develop” him?

I made a similar point with Mond at TAMU on tRant. Some poster said “look at him, everyone knew he was trash and he ended up being the 7th QB drafted, he couldn’t have done that without Jimbo’s QB whispering skillz!” I pointed out that Mond was the #7 ranked QB prospect in his signing class. Four years under Jimbo’s wing and he ended up exactly where he was predicted.

We treated Harsin terribly. Still deserves to be fired
