To be clear - I do not think we get Prime, but it's fun to imagine for sure.

It's especially fun imagining an elite football program headed up by Deion Sanders and an elite basketball program headed up by Bruce Pearl. What recruit wouldn't want to come to Auburn???

Peter's Updated Top 5 Head Coaches:

1. Prime

2. Corch
3. Jang
4. Poker Dough
5. Clesi

All future lists will be Prime and Prime only until it is officially not Prime. There is only one choice to make.

A few details regarding Calzada from JGT:

quote:

Zach Calzada injured his throwing shoulder at some point either during the late spring or summer.

We are told this injury was not related to football.

He sought an outside medical opinion first, which he told Auburn indicated that surgery would get him back to 100 percent. Then Calzada conferred with Auburn's medical team. He was told there that surgery indeed would help — and could be done at season's end — but that he wasn't risking additional injury by playing with it. At that point, Calzada had a choice.

He elected to practice. He practiced poorly.

Calzada now is telling the staff that he wants to shut it down and take a medical redshirt season. A significant number of players see this as a purely voluntary decision, that Calzada isn't fighting through the standard nicks and bruises and discomfort everybody is dealing with.

As you'd expect, Calzada isn't very popular on the practice field or in the locker room right now.

This is fun. When everything is still a possibility. No head-scratching hire we have to research and try to make chicken salad from chicken shite.

Enjoy this time, because the shitty hire is coming.

Also, we still have Harsin.

Not one on field coach should be kept from this staff.

They shouldn’t be forced to, but I would hope Caddy, Ike, and Etheridge stay on. Etheridge only because he can recruit.

I don't blame calzada. Maybe I'm in the minority.

Those are the three I wouldn’t hate, but ultimately they need to leave it up to the new guy to keep someone he wants. The reality is the vast majority of the time coaches need to (and do) clean house.

From a fan perspective, don’t blame him.

But if I’m a guy in the locker room, probably would blame him

I don’t really blame him either at this point.

Our RBs are doing incredible. Pretty sure they lead country in YAC.

I like Ike personally, and think he could be a great coaching asset perhaps, but what has he or our WRs done this season that everyone is so impressed? Our WRs have been a huge huge disappointment in my opinion, and we just lost Karmello English recruiting. Please tell me what Ike has done to deserve this praise?

I feel like WRs have made noticeable improvement. Drops are WAY down from last year and people I’ve talked to that have gone to the games have said most plays someone is open, we just aren’t able to get it to them (either by lack of time or QBs not seeing them).

Recruiting-wise, we lost English but immediately replaced him with another 4* WR. Our 2nd and 3rd highest ranked recruits are WRs.

Ike and Caddy seem to be the clear two best assistant coaches we have. Both on and off the field. Whether or not we should keep them is another discussion though.
