Grimes would be a cultural fit. He has been here he knows who to make things happen. Very smart dude and think he would be a CEO head coach letting his coordinators do their jobs. I have Grimes way down my list tho.
Elko is a great defensive mind and a damn good recruiter. He probably should have held out for a better job than Duke. But sometimes you have to jump but he’s winning at Duke. He has SEC experience. Still down on my list of coaches but either could win at AU.
Are they championship coaches at AU I have no idea but that same answer could go for my top choice in Prime as well or Kiffin.
And as I predicted even before the firing I think it will be Freeze. But that will be dependent on if Cohen and Rich will sign off on it. Which I think they will once agent contacts begin

Grimes feels like Pittman to me, who is failing. If we are at Baylor talking to a coach it should only be Aranda.

Some of you just say things to say things. What, they're both white guys who are OL coaches by trade?
Grimes is proving to be a very good OC. On top of being a very good OL coach. Baylor is up to ~Top 15 in offense now, after replacing literally all of their production at both WR and RB from last season. Grimes' offense is actually out-producing Aranda's defense, so take that how you will regarding Aranda lol.
He left BYU after a season wherein his offense was Top 5 in the entire country.
The difference between Grimes and Pittman is that Grimes is actually very good at outright X's and O's.
Having said that, I don't think he's going to be the hire. But he is far from a poor choice.

I like grimes on paper but just feels like he shouldn’t be out top guy. We’ll see though. That’s the thing, you don’t know how it’ll play out until it does

I am moving towards the Freeze train. We can get him cheaper, and he is a better coach. I also think he would just like living in Auburn. Lane would always be a hired gun.

You should definitely watch Freeze on Aaron Torres' podcast. It only has like 300 views, which is funny considering it was 25 minutes long and happened before the Arky game. Freeze discusses what kinda school he has in mind.

Why is he openly talking about entertaining other jobs before a big game? That’s weird. I get that it’s Liberty but it’s kind of an unwritten rule to not talk about that sort of thing. Weird

Because he's Hugh Freeze and doesn't GAF. I think honesty out of coaches is refreshing.
This podcast happened before the Arky game. After the Arky game he was asked about AU outside the locker room. He said he didn't know if AU would ever call, but said he can "turn programs around fast."
Yeah, he'd take it.

He also worked for Auburn for 6 years.
He also said he hasn’t given a cent to Ole Miss and won’t stay in Oxford long after his kids graduate. He is no homer.

What everyone already knows: None of this matters if Lane wins. Heck, if he goes 8-4 and beats UA and UGA twice, that will get him 5-7 years, without things being a total disaster. That's the floor. Basically a certainty.
Why don't they talk about the potential of Lane with a talented defense, premium defensive coordinator, and the best home field in college football? Fear. This potential ceiling is worth $100 million.
Hugh Freeze would be fine also.
