True or not, the merits can be discussed amongst ourselves however long you’d like. Still shared an Ole Miss fan’s opinion which is relevant and if you don’t like it, get over it.

Good news:
Fans and members of this message board will not be making the hire.
Bad news:
Auburn board of trustees will be making the hire.
Fact #1 - the only candidates that would fit all of the best criteria would be Saban and Dabo and Kirby. (Champions with SEC proven recruiting)
Fact #2 - none of those guys will be leaving their jobs.
Fact #3 - you have to take a chance on the guy you hire in one area and hope he fits. You decide which negative you can live with.
Ethics and media assault? Hire Freeze or Urban.
Lack of Division 1 experience? Hire Neon or Grimes.
Lack of Division 1 success?
Hire Muschamp or Steele or Lashlee or Kiffin.
Lack of success in the NFL and no SEC recruiting ties? Hire Rhule.
Personally, Rhule is the 1st name I have been excited about. If we could fire Harsin and announce him a week later - it would help recruiting quickly.
He is so qualified, I am also certain we can’t hire him.

Go ahead shoot for another experiment with Rhule. Why can't we shoot for someone with a little more proven success? Are you saying you want another experiment?
He’s not a fricking experiment.
He’s as proven as you’ll ever get outside of a Saban like hire which just doesn’t happen. If you find me a guy that fits that criteria then let’s go with him. But he’s not out there.
You just want an old retread that we know sucks?

With Lane it depends how many years and guarateed money he wants. The state of Mississippi won't allow any state employee to sign a contract over 4 years long

We could pay Rhule 500k a year and let Carolina eat his salary

That’s a good possibility but which is why I say Rhule is a legit consideration. So much more to be done before a coach is hired, but he jumps to the top on any list one with common sense might have anyway.
As I have seen written, the candidates being thrown around all have risks, but a couple have shown to be a risk worth taking.

Someone needs to...Temper...their expectations.
I get your points, but you have to understand where some of us *expletives* are coming from. College coaches with spectacular resumes can move to another school and be a total failure. Similarly, college coaches can have very mediocre, if not outright terrible seasons at one school and move on to great success elsewhere. I won't take the time to go through dozens of examples of each case, but they are out there. The most explicit example was obviously that of Nick Saban who had a very mediocre record at Michigan State, moved to LSU and won a Natty, had two losing seasons with the Dolphins, moved to Bama, lost to Louisiana-Monroe and Auburn (6th in a row), then went on to build one of the greatest college football dynasties of all time.
Give it a rest. Have your opinion - but calling people names for rightly thinking Rhule could be a good next coach at Auburn is unfair. Nobody is saying he's perfect or that he's the next Saban/Dabo/Kirby/etc. We all want the same thing - to win. You cannot deny it's possible for Rhule to eventually win here.

I'll let you fall over backwards for him while our AD/Board get someone worse anyway

Sadly, that's the fricking truth

I agree.
"Rhule" number one: We want a winner not a loser.

frick the Deion idiots.
You’re a fool and not open minded to think outside the norm and see what Deion will be.
Let’s get the safe hire. Screw all that.
But, Rhule has all those Top 25 wins. Right?
I am really shocked how hard the board is going for Rhule. We bitch about the PTB, but honestly, most of you think just like them.

You fixed nothing. He will be a big winner at the next level. We have to make him say no.

I got this feeling though. Can’t discount that.

We have this weird stigma that ex Saban coaches aren’t good enough for us.
I distinctly remember a large group not wanting Kirby when he was supposedly interviewing because he was an “a-hole”
We didn’t want Kiffin back then and still don’t becUse he’s “immature”
A very large group of y’all didn’t want Sark because he’s an “Alcoholic”. Yeah good enough for Saban and Texas but not Auburn fambly

He’s built two separate programs from being trash to being winners. One of which was a Power 5 program.
The only thing he hasn’t done is get a program over the top. That’s the only thing he hasn’t proven because he hasn’t stayed somewhere long enough. Saban had already done that when Bama hired him. But again, is there a guy out there who has gotten a program over the top?
Give me a candidate that has proven more than Rhule.

I just don't want to look back in a couple years and go "man we overthought that".
A recent NFL HC who rebuilt two CFB programs and is well admired even by the pro players he failed is potentially available. Gotta do the due diligence on that, IMO.
