Was skimming through another site and there’s speculation that Self is in line for an NBA job and Pearl may be considered . Just for hypotheticals, say Kansas did come calling, AU with SEC money can probably match or surpass any reasonable offer, Bruce seems like he’s loves AU but sooner or later somebody is going to come calling.
It won't be about money if the situation arises.

It’s worth noting the following about his family

Brandy - owns Grove Bark Inn in Auburn
Jacqui - not too far away in Knoxville
Leah - works for Turner in ATL
Steven - obvious
Michael - student at Auburn

BP is about as big of a family guy as you can get and he’d still be in Knoxville if he hadn’t gotten back into coaching. I think he has plenty of years left, but I’m confident he wants to continue building AU no matter who comes calling.

What Pearl has done is nothing short of amazing, but I try not to get into the cult of personality thing and thinking one man is bigger than the program. It’s easy to do with a guy like Pearl because he leans forward so much.

Some don’t like this, but Bruce is laying the groundwork for Steven.

I'm fine with at least giving him a shot

It’s also easier to do because he resurrected our program from the deep depths of the abyss after failed attempts by others. Our program was so bad for so long and our current successes taste so sweet that I have no problem believing our program can regress without Bruce. Its an insecure feeling. I may be misreading your post but I’m not sure I can think of many other coaches that can do what Bruce has done. Maybe Baylor’s old coach or the Blue Blood coaches. But even some of the above average coaches like Mike White or Nate Oats, I question whether they could even do what Bruce has done.

We all need to just accept that the true price of keeping Pearl is making Stevie Pearl the heir apparent barring a big F up.

It's a price we should happily accept

This is how supportive I am of doing what it takes even if it means making his playboy son the heir:

Ok. I am scratching my head on this one.

Why, just b/c we are winning at a great rate and level now with Bruce, would we want or have to hire his son Steven?

If we are at a level that puts on the basketball map, why would we hire a son of a great coach, who has never ever coached at any level?

Why would we think that we would sustain that level of recruiting or winning, w/ an unknown product as coach?

Why would we not, while we are now relevant not go out and find a coach that has shown he is highly successful, experienced, and has taken other team(s) to the NCAA?

Why would we take any chance of being irrelevant again?

The thoughts are short sighted but understandable. They want Bruce to stay as long as possible. I do as well. They are saying they would be willing to tell Bruce his son is next if he stays. A few years of Steven not doing well he gets fired. But he will have a decade or so watching and learning from pops so maybe it works. If it doesn’t then no biggie we find someone new.

If knowing son is HCIW then maybe he stays longer and turns away blue bloods.

In the end. I think he stays regardless. He has built something beautiful here. The arena will be named after him. His legacy here is going to be incredible no matter what unless some super shady stuff comes out. Auburn took a chance on him and let’s him do what he wants. Win/win and he understands the risk the university took in hiring him.

Some of yall are being pretty naive. Pearl is going to want to win a title. That's going to be really, really hard at Auburn; though we were so close last year. If a true blue blood came calling I doubt he'd turn it down. Hopefully it won't happen.

I think Bruce wants to win a title somewhere that it won’t be just another one on a long list. I think he believes he can do it at auburn. I think he can too. His coaching plus the recruiting he is pulling I think he can.

He is selling to kids that they can be legends. Not just more good players like others before them. You even the recruiting and add his coaching and winning a title becomes very realistic at auburn.

It will have to be UNC, KU, Duke for him to leave. You’re starting to see a lot of coaches sticking with their schools, instead of looking for the next big gig.

I would even argue it’s an easier, less stressful coaching job at a school where can build a roster of 3-4 year players, and not have to deal with multiple one and done departures every year.

I don’t see Pearl leaving what he’s building at Auburn.

If UNC or Indiana come calling and the only way we keep Bruce is by naming Stevie heir apparent, we better do the right thing.

With the way Indiana is playing right now, that could be a real possibility

This is the one “blueblood” (if you wanna call them that) that might legitimately make a run at Pearl (he’s been rumored as a candidate every time the job comes open).

With that said, there’s still a lot of bad blood in the Big Ten for pearl... I just don’t think he’d go back there.

Right now we are a much better program than Indiana, cant see him wanting another multi year re-build project.

You honestly have no idea wtf you are talking about if you are serious.

That's like saying Boise St is a better program than UGA because UGA hasn't won anything meaningful in a couple decades.

If Steven is learning from Pearl and has 10% of Bruce’s energy, who knows it might just work out
