When I think about this scenario, the only reason why I can fathom Bruce would jump from Auburn to a blueblood program is because he would go to coach a blueblood. Perhaps that's a big reason, but I can also think of multiple reasons why he would be more inclined to stay at Auburn.

If anything, I'd say the entirety of CBP's time at Auburn and especially the last 3 seasons have shown why he is truly the perfect coach for the Auburn program. He is a high energy guy with excellent marketing and inspirational qualities. That is exactly what Auburn needs. A blueblood doesn't need Bruce to market the basketball program or inspire confidence and fire in the fanbase. Ideally, it's already there.

What he would gain would be slightly easier recruiting, and maybe better facilities, and I'm not even sure that's a given. I'm not sold that winning an NC would be 'easier' at a blueblood than it would be at Auburn at the moment. We have a small sample size, but the fact we reached the FF last year goes to show that winning an NC at Auburn is feasible . Donovan did the same at Florida, Beard at TTU, etc.

There's also the note that coach at a blueblood just makes you a bullet point in their programs history...always being compared to whatever great coach they last had. For Auburn, we've never had that, and like Donovan and Bowden at their respective programs, Pearl has the chance to be the face of the Auburn basketball program as it is already trending that way. He is not 'old', but he also isn't a young coach. He is at the prime age to continure building his legacy and retire at Auburn. On a side note, depending on how this 2020 class finishes, we could be at a major tipping point for Auburn basketball recruiting. If we can get Green and/or Brown to jump on board, then I think going forward, it would be a lot easier to convince the top guys that Auburn is a solid choice...similar to Clemson's football recruiting now.

What we can do as a program is insure that whatever administrative and financial support he gets from the university is no worse that what he would receive at any school that may come calling.

They almost snagged Tonny Bennett awhile back, if they did they'd go undefeated every year.

And if he stays until he retires and contiues to consistently keep auburn in the NCAAs and winning SEC championships or going deep into the NCAAs, then he would be considered the 'GOAT' Auburn basketball coach, and get him a statue for sure...

That is a damn good legacy to work towards...

At a "blueblood", CBP will be one of a long line of successful coaches. At Auburn, he is building a Blueblood of his own and he is pretty much Basketball Jesus.

They'll give him all the money he wants. They'll never put his name on Rupp Arena, but Auburn damn sure will rename the gym and build a statue to boot if he keeps up what hes doing now.

At what point would coaching for a blue blood outweigh the potential for a fricking life-sized statue and an entire arena named after you at a big time SEC school forever?

Self has a big NCAA cloud over the program right now. If he leaves, that's a big reason why. I don't see Bruce being an option for Kansas.

Because of this Kansas has to hire someone with a squeaky clean record so our guy is safe
