Could possibly be something like that. My grandfather was born in 1892. He was a very old man when I was born. He had grandkids older than his second set of 7 children. Massive family reunions. Would be people from school show up and find out we were 3rd cousins or some shite like that

Any of us would do that but in ghetto culture it doesn't work that way. Kids have parents and other family members who spent time in prison. If you are disrespected in prison and don't respond with violence, you are going to be beaten up, have your property taken away from you, and sexually assaulted by every predator in the facility.

My only point was they weren’t in prison they were at a strip mall. How not to end up in prison is if shite looks like it might go down then just go home.

Accepting that behavior is why it still happens. Just like anything else

At some point, you have to say, my life is worth more than being disrespected

I can’t believe our SEC scholarship running back thought that guy , who was out at 3am, was going to take something from him.

It’s just a different version of a 25 year old hot girl with 10,000 pictures of themselves on instagram.

I saw a interview a while back where a guy who had shot someone was being tried for murder. His claim was that he never had a chance as a child and the biggest reason was because hid dad left early and his mom just could not handle him and his 3 brothers.

This is an entire culture with kids being "raised" without intact families and fathers, especially. My company partners with a Single Moms - Women in Technology organization in Atlanta and we work with them to put them through a technology bootcamp and hire them as contractors and some convert over to full-time. Some are the best and the brightest you can imagine and others are just the opposite of that and it's sad to think of what their children will become but they don't have much of a chance, sadly.

FB groups are saying he’s moving his hands, but might be paralyzed otherwise

Not gonna speculate or play online doctor, but any movement seems like a good sign. Don't know any specifics, trying to drop in and get updates, but I'm just guessing it'll be a long journey back. Not a genius take, I understand. Just hope he's headed in the right direction.

Hand movement is big. Praying for a toe wiggle soon. Brian was in good physical shape going into this, so that always helps the road to recovery.

Any movement is an encouraging sign at this point. The recovery from a gunshot to the head is long and difficult but it is possible. In younger people the brain can build pathways around the injured area but this is most likely to happen before the brain is fully developed at around age 25.

I couldnt find out what hospital he is in. He may be at Blake which is just right down the street from my shop. It is a trauma/recovery center and is decently close to the place where the shooting happened.

The other option is Sarasota Memorial

Just keep hoping he can recover and have a full life

Blake off 59th street?

I would think Sarasota Memorial would be closer but I don't know about their capabilities vs other hospitals.

I remember when Blake was built....

When the initial report came out, they said some of the patients were sent to Sarasota hospitals and some were sent to Manatee hospitals. Blake is a trauma unit so I was just taking a guess.

My wife works at Sarasota but worked at Blake the first year we were in Florida. My shop is just off Cortez Ave at 43rd street. Near the bowling alley.

Heard yesterday that he is still sedated to let his body rest, but he had improved a good bit since the setback.

Part of his skull was removed to help with swelling last week and I heard they were almost ready to repair that part of his skull.

All vague stuff, but that is all I've been able to get.

Better than no news and sounds like he is recovering well which is definitely good. Who knows the long term impact this will have on him, but he is stable and recovering. Right now that is all that matters.

I am not trying to be the bearer of bad news but there is a reason that you are hearing nothing from his family.

There is absolutely nothing encouraging about his current medical condition. This is devastating for his family and they just need prayer.

I know we all want a miracle and that is what it would take at this point.
