Bo’s Performance

On the INT, It looked like he could have ran for a first down.
Schwartz was stationary. DB flashed across his face.
Should Schwartz have been moving to QB?
Also, slants. We completed slants.
8 different receivers caught a ball.
Seems diverse.
Something to build on?

He played solid. Tennesse didnt let him run much but he threw some nice passes. The int was just a bone head decision that he seems to always make.
His performance was solid. He is going to need to be perfect next week if Auburn is to have any chance. He cant make stupid decisions and get behind

Bo is getting better, but he has many issues that will prevent him from being elite if he doesn't work on them.
I guess at the end of the day he was bound to disappoint in some way because we needed more from him than he could give.

Based on stats alone, and factoring in that every game is an SEC game, Bo is having an elite season in Auburn QB history (not that we are a QB factory or anything). 230/40 passing/rushing yards per game, 2-1 TD-INT ratio, 61% completion percentage in SEC play is extremely rare air at Auburn.
Eye test it’s a little less so especially because he was a major factor in the South Carolina loss (as was Seth Williams), but he’s still way up there.

I tend to forget its an all SEC schedule this season when looking at stats. Great point.

There is a decisive advantage to being at an elevated camera level versus ground level. That's what makes arm chair quarterbacks, who have never played the position, superb critics of the game. You simply see things not seen on the field.
Bo was moving and in that moment during the decision to throw, Moved past the window, missing the opportunity. Head works, body doesn't react in time. He threw late.
The difference now, seems to be, "Morris"
Bo has been drilled to eliminate "Happy Feet". He's not triggered to bail as often as he was at the beginning of the season. He still has some dreadful habits ....But he's being groomed for something much more enlightening. We'll see how he transitions during this week while preparing for Bama. There is a Quarterback inside that framework.

I was impressed with our gameplan on offense TBH. Once we got our legs back after the 3-week layoff, things were mostly clicking. Now, if we can fix the Swiss cheese holes in our run D, maybe we'll give Bama a game...
Nix's INT was a poor decision, but part of me thinks it may have been avoided if the receiver was a little more aggressive.

Kind of like basketball where often you need to meet the ball.
Good win.

Yeah, pretty much. If there was more zip on that pass, Nix might've threaded the needle for a TD. But looking at the replay, I feel like the receiver may have been a little too flat footed on the play, and could've at least tried to step forward and cause enough disruption to make it an incomplete pass as opposed to an INT. Just my opinion, of course...

Meh on stellar performance... but Hell Yes.... it's a win!
TN certainly helped with two missed FG's, which combined with Monday's pick 6 in their end zone, and the great BO noticed blown coverage TD... made a 23 point game seem less of a great quarterback performance. To me this was more of a welcomed team win.
Loved the run by committee (hate Tank got tanked) and would love to see him with fresher legs in the 4th.

21 days. That’s how long it’s been since we played a game. We were bound to have some rust. After 1st quarter we looked so much better including Nix.

I imagine everything is happening at game speed. Bo saw him. Threw. Flash focused on ball to make catch. DB made a play.
It happens.
The picks versus USC were much worse football decisions.

The DB covered some ground. He made a hell of a play. I don't think Bo knew the DB was even in the area code.

I know, I'm just picking nits, lol... It'd be a bigger sore spot had we lost in a close one, but Nix played a solid game overall. Hell, he nearly completed a nice pass to Williams for a TD too, but unfortunately the ball bobbled a bit when he landed. If Nix can play at this same level every week, it'll be hard to lay most of the blame on his shoulders...

I said this in the game thread but if Schwartz runs toward the ball it’s not intercepted. Even if he comes out of the end zone it’s still a first down.
It was a learning experience for both guys there

One problem I see next week...Bama is good at stiffening up in the red zone (Kentucky was shoving it down their throat early in the game today, but only had one field goal to show for it). Offensively that is also a weakness for us. I know last year against UA we had 5 field goals, but if we do that this year we are just going to lose 48-15. I hope Tank is fully recovered!

Flash runs a simple "Go" route (9) straight to the goal post. 50 plus yard TD with ease. Obvious the DB could not cover him.
Even if they switch and put a different cover guy over him ...why not run the same route later?
There always seems to be the theory of "It worked once, they will not fall for it again."

In my opinion Bo seems to be getting better each week and his mechanics and pocket presence is improving as well. He is kind of a gunslinger so you do have to take the good with the bad at times. He may not put up 400 yards passing in multiple games in a season but as we should expect he will be at the top of the SEC his junior year. Especially if Seth comes back and in my opinion he should and continue to work on his speed. Seth will get horrible numbers at a pro-day or combine.
Some of the other things mentioned like Tank’s injury. For anyone the risk isn’t worth the reward much like KJ unless you are fully healthy just sit out until you are and that is for any game not just the Bama game for this season.
It has been refreshing to see Coach Bick rotate so many guys up front to get some experience there for the backups. The OL is much better then just 4 weeks ago.

After the SC game I was ready to burn not only Bo's house down but his parents and both sets of grandparents too. He's been a different quarterback since that game. He still takes off occasionally and doesn't always step up into the pocket but he's getting there. He had to unlearn a lot of things that he could get away with in HS.
