That's the rumor floating around right now. It would likely affect all conferences.

That going to be a massive headache between the draft and the quick turnaround for the 2021 season. Might as well cancel.

lilrly only affects a proportion of draft eligible players. Som will sit to protect their stock. Others will play to help their stock.

I’d have more confidence in the rumor if it wasn’t coming from Pete Thamel

I think the SEC has the fortitude to push forward even if the entire college football landscape around them caves

but if they end up shutting it down or not, it is safe to say that the fallout of this mess will forever alter college athletics

I just don’t see how a spring season is going to work without screwing up next fall’s season (unless the pandemic affects 2021 also)... players with draft aspirations aren’t gonna participate... wrapping up a season at the end of spring semester then turning around and having camp start up in August doesn’t seem likely.

I guess it could look like some kinda modified spring scrimmage deal where games are exhibits and there’s only a handful... but still, it’s gonna be weird.

If it doesn’t happen this fall.... we just need to wait till next fall imo.

DOn't see it working out real well....

That would be silly and dangerous. ONe thing happens and the rest of the world gets to see it and will be the judge and jury.

There will be no football. I hate it and its going to suck and it will be a mess to deal with the aftermath

But any logical person should be able to see that there are just too many hurdles in 2020 for this the season to go on. I absolutely hope I am wrong but I just believe they are stringing everyone along waiting to drop the bomb. Which will be very soon.

There are more variables than there are answers for.

I think the SEC will hold the rope longer than anyone else, and we will see where it falls out. The cancellation of the season might very well be the end of big money college athletics.

How can one make the argument that the ROI will be there next season? Or the season after? The risks are completely unknown, so where do you mark the appropriate amount of investment on behalf of the AD?

I cant answer that or know anything about that. I just know that they will not risk everything this year to be the only ones to play.

It’s always been a matter of time before it goes under anyway.

Its going to change things but It will come back just fine once people feel safe and the world starts spinning again

There are many problems right now that need to be fixed.

1 - Scared of Covid
2 - Entitled players
3 - Players getting paid
4 - NCAA needs to become a real governing agency
5 - Gus needs to be fired

Once those things are handled, we can get back to college football. But for now, its either toxic, players will not play because they want to be paid, There is no leadership and Gus needs to be replaced with Bill Clark
