This is an excellent description of the big issue.

Its exactly what I was talking. We need a leader. And the NCAA has no clue what to do or how to make a decision. They need to just make a decision and stick with it

The best thing for everyone involved right now would be to play. But that is a very tough decision.

I don't much understand the liability aspect of this.

Isn't a university as likely to be sued by a regular student that claims to get covid on campus as they would a student-athlete that claims to get covid during an athletic competition?

If that is the case then every employer, school, business, etc is about to be in deep shite. Every covid patient can just claim they got it somewhere and sue the pants off of that entity.

It's being tweeted that their has been no vote by presidents and chancellors. President Trump has retweeted Trevor Lawrences tweet about wanting to play and his support.

Is actually a solid point. I do agree with you.

But isnt there a choice to either go to school or do online these days? Im not up on that with Auburn.

Football would sort of be mandatory in a way. Or players would be led to believe it is mandatory if they decide to play . We do live in a world where everything that happens is always someone elses fault

But Id agree with you. Proving how someone got the virus is going to be a very talked about thing.

Students have options about attending class, every college student in the state of Alabama is being tested.

Fraom reading some of the tweets and conversations, there are plenty of programs that want to play. Maybe, just maybe they can persuade enough programs to have a season. I am still on the side that we wont play but its great to see there are some fighting for it.

Where the hell is the NCAA?

The NCAA has very little power when it comes to football and the power 5 conferences.

regardless if they have the power to start it up or shut it down, they need to be leading things right now.

And I agree with you 100%. I think they are just waiting for everyone else to make decisions so they can just hide

I have always been on their side and said their job was tough but this is terrible.

Why would we want the NCAA involved in the decision? They have literally cancelled every sport that they govern since this shite started.

Im not just looking at it from a point of weather we play or not. Im looking at it from leadership. They have certainly not been that for a while.

I think it is time for someone else to be leading college athletics. The NCAA has proven that they are not going to do so.

Its deeper than just playing a few football games this winter.. If you think the Covid virus is going to hurt things, wait until the entire "players getting paid" thing gets going. As well as social justice things.

There needs to be leadership in times of need. There is zero leadership

Sorry, but this statement makes no sense.

IF you really don't have the power to start up or shut down, then how can you be held accountable to lead?

How can the NCAA who has NO control over the postseason or the TV contracts and therefore not even the P5 schools except in eligibility, rules enforcement, etc..all of a sudden have the responsibility to lead?

The P5 teams since the 80's when the money drove colleges to fight the NCAA, it's up to the P5 conferences to give that control thru policy to the NCAA or set up a new administrative organization.

It has now come about that there is a heart condition, myocarditis, which has already been found in a few Big 10 athletes. In limited studies, it appears that COVID can cause the onset of this condition.

It's factors like this that really scare me about the virus and cause me to believe sports are still a ways off.

Marcello’s article is excellent; there’s a lot of info I didn’t know.

Highly recommend the long read if you have five minutes.

The condition is usually caused by a viral infection, including those that cause the common cold, H1N1 influenza or mononucleosis. Left undiagnosed and untreated, it can cause heart damage and sudden cardiac arrest, which can be fatal. It is a rare condition, but the COVID-19 virus has been linked with myocarditis with a higher frequency than other viruses, based on limited studies and anecdotal evidence since the start of the pandemic.

So this condition can develop from COVID, the flu, mono, or the common cold. Yet they vaguely mention in the article that it affects covid patients at a "higher" frequency based on "limited" research.

This is all bullshite. Fear mongering...

It's official, no Big 10 football this fall. I feel as though it's only a matter of time before the other dominoes fall.
