For anyone younger then 40 UT used to be a regular rivalry.

Worst fans ever in JH stadium I've ever been around. Completely horrible. I've had worse road experiences but Vols fans in the 80s and 90s were jokes.

Anybody else having trouble getting up for the games when the rug could be pulled out at any minute?

And that’s why the last UT game was such a blow to CGM.... you do not lose to inferior opponents period....

That's not strictly true - even the best HCs lose to 'inferior opponents'. See last year's Iron Bowl, for example.

Losing to flat-out BAD teams is the problem. And UT was a BAD team in 2018. As was SC this season.

I could go the remainder of the year without watching football and I wouldn’t think twice about it.

I think COVID has affected me to the extent that my passion for college football won’t be the same even if we return to normal at some point.

For me it’s made me realize how insignificant sports are in the real world yet we continue to pay them ridiculous money

It has made me focus more on working and on my future goals/dreams. I have been twice as focused and worked twice as hard this year.

I think I have one more solid year in me then Im out.

I have enjoyed the little that I have watched but in all honesty, Im where you are. Dont really care and I have been much less affected by it than ever. Even if we were undefeated, I dont think It would be any different.

I’ve enjoyed working around the house, going fishing, spending more time with family, etc. I tune in when I can but I no longer plan my Saturday around it.

I have even tried some drunk half hearted trolling attempts on the SEC rant but i just don’t have it in me anymore.

I know this is a ridiculously small sample size, but I think all of the above posts (from 5 different regulars on this forum) are indicative a huge national trend.

I feel pretty much the same way, although I've been heading in that direction for a few years now. Used to be a HUGE lifelong Braves fan. I didn't watch a single game, or even a highlight this season. I just don't seem to care about the sport anymore.

I never, ever thought I'd feel (or not feel) the same way about AU football. I've watched this season, but haven't felt anywhere near as passionate or involved in the outcome. I admit being pretty happy about the beatdown we put on LSU, but the rest of the season has left me pretty meh, win or lose. In fact if it wasn't for interactions with fellow posters on this board and occasional forays into tRant, I probably wouldn't be interested in CFB at all.

Not gonna go all PoliTalk on here, but it's plain to me that the country has changed dramatically, and permanently. In the case of the ridiculous overemphasis on organized sports, that's probably a good thing.

But it's never gonna be the same as it was.

Tuesday press conference - (247 Link)
quote:

Missing players: It comes as no surprise that Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said at his weekly press conference that Auburn will be without some players in Saturday’s game against Tennessee at Jordan-Hare Stadium? Who are they? How many? He wouldn’t say which also came as no surprise.

quote:

Malzahn’s 100th Auburn game: Saturday’s game will be Malzahn’s 100th as Auburn’s head coach. “When I think of it that way of how blessed I am to be the head coach at Auburn, so many great players that I've been able to coach and win some football games,” Malzahn said. “I'm real blessed and real honored, and I'm looking forward to be coaching the 100th game.”

quote:

Under the lights: Auburn will play its first night game of the season Saturday. Malzahn called on Auburn students to “bring their A-game” to Jordan-Hare Stadium for a 6 p.m. kickoff.

quote:

A unique situation: Auburn will play Saturday for the first time in three weeks. The only other times during Malzahn’s tenure that Auburn has gone three weeks without playing was before bowl games

Me: Does 100th game outweigh 3 week delay?

In my opinion, it's not permanent. I predict that attention to sports will come back with a vengeance when this shite is over. People are going to tailgate the shite out of shite.

I think you are right about the tailgating. But that in my opinion is not about sports. Its about people.

I believe that the outlook at sports and athletes, especially professional athletes has been changed for a very long time. Some of that caused by the pandemic, some of that caused by the athletes themselves

Didn't in person classes end yesterday or today? I'm curious to see how many stay in town for the game or head home.

When I was a student, the Iron Bowl was always the weekend before Thanksgiving, so you stayed and went home Sunday, but I'm curious if the Tenn game will be as big of a draw.

Also, aren't in person classes done until January? I wonder how that impacts the aTm game in 2 weeks.

Normally I'd be scared; however I'm hoping it's been used as a fortunate (and extended) mid-season practice.

Instead of whew it's over... with perhaps some seasonal partying mixed in.
