Hoke made a post saying CBM breached his contract with Auburn when he entered the portal so now Auburn has no obligation to pay him any certain amount. So hypocritically if the coaches allowed him back it could be at a lower amount than previously, but also implied that he’s not sure the coaches want him back.

As the biggest CBM defender on here last year, I’ll go ahead and say I hope we don’t bring him back and I hope we hold him/whatever team he goes to, to the full amount owed to sign him. I think he’s a very good ball player and could have been a major part of the team this next year, but I can’t see things working out in the future from a chemistry standpoint after this stunt.

Really curious to see if these contracts/clauses will hold up or not. Rumors are the Iamaleava brothers had similar clauses at UT and Arky. Hate that CBM will be one of test cases on whether these contracts hold water but some type of repercussions have to be put in place

The next round had a great breakdown on his NIL. He signed in Feb before the season was over and was going to make over what Broome made at last years prices. I think his buy out is something like 650K. Well it seems like if he waited the prices would be higher. He found out the kid from UCF was going to make ~2mil or a little over compared to his 1.1 or 1.2 mil and got mad about it. So yeah. if you take a look at it his agent gets a cut, then taxes are taken out, it gets to a point that he won't make any money or be in debt if he does go somewhere else & Auburn decides to hold him to the contract.

I just don’t see Auburn ever suing a kid for breach of contract. Really bad look for recruiting.

Rob Dauster on Field of 68 said that he believes that Auburn should 100% hold him to the contract, which says he would have to repay 60% of any money he received. I agree. Now, he may not have received anything under this contract at this point, but I'm sure there are other stipulations to the contract that could be an issue for him. Either way, these are pro athletes at this point. If universities and other concerned individuals don't protect themselves, who will?

At some point schools/programs/athletics departments have to protect themselves. Players already have 95% of the leverage in these situations. If you don't uphold contracts and hold players accountable for breaching them you're ceding pretty much all of the power to them and saying those contracts are meaningless.

We are talking million dollar deals. CBM's was just signed. Our NIL is decent but its not good enough to swallow major losses like that. These kids want to be treated like pros so let it be done.

Agreed. Great ball player but is NOT worth the drama he brings to the table week in and week out. Better for CBM to start with a clean slate somewhere else

Would not be good for him to come back knowing that Hall got 2 million and he was pissed off about it would cause a problem.

Seems to me like the best NIL strategy would be to only pay the players year by year, even with a multi year NIL contract. I have no clue why we would give someone a bunch of money for next season, when so many players just leave and enter the transfer portal.

Man I'll say this as kind and respectful as I can because he helped us make a final four run....... CBM screwed himself and know he has to deal with the consequences. You had over a million on the table but you chose to watch another man's pockets and get jealous. You're a 26 year old man not a 17-18 year old boy. Auburn out here teaching life lessons and I'm glad to hear it.

He doesn't have an on/off button. Much the same as his game.

And accepting good fortune could be so easy, if he didn't exercise so much gotta-get the best of you.

Might b wrong.

Auburn and OTV must hold the line. May not be the most comfortable thing to do but sets the standard don’t negotiate after signing a deal. There has to be a balance to this business model.

Tennessee held their end of the bargain with Nico. Auburn must do the same with CBM.

I agree as it will set the standard. I don't know who is in his ear of CBM but I think they are did him some harm. Just finished Auburn Tigers on Auburn Live Basketball show. They had some interesting information on his contract. Auburn doesn't have to bring him back under the same contract as he already breached it. I heard also that lawyers reviewed the contract before it was signed. Also, he has been around college for at least 4 years but still hasn't graduated which may be a concern if he is going to another school.

TLDR: CBM may be f*ked if OTV held him to the contract if they paid him any money on that contract.
