Consensus on this site doesnt mean shite

Its like asking a bunch of arm chair Qbs if Petty is too short, having never stood next to him or anything

Yeah he's listed 6'1". But thats a lie because it fits my narrative. He's really shorter than that in my head, therefore he's shorter in real life too. Its a consensus

I'd say IF Pettiford and CBM are back..

Pettiford
CBM
Keyshawn Hall

as 3 of your starters..

plus 2 day 1 ready talented freshman probably providing some legitimate bench scoring
Sebastian Williams-Adams
Kaden Magwood

Deep Bench option
Simon Walker

is a REALLY good starting point. Have no idea what is still out in the portal as I've only followed our early swings and misses but if you plug the right guys around that you have potential for a pretty dang good team.

Have we decided Jakai isn't coming back??

Plus AD Scott for depth.

I've not read anything about Howard either way but with the transfer portal I have a hard time seeing a freshman who got put in the doghouse for almost an entire year - coming back.

Is our basketball NIL really that bad compared to other top SEC basketball programs not named Kentucky? Is anything known as a fact or just guessing all around?

I've heard Bruce talk about it before and his general opinion was we were middle of the pack in SEC.

Why wouldn't Chaney come back

Pettiford
CBM
Hall

Is genuinely elite offensive talent to build around. I would note though, that all 3 of them can be ball stoppers at times. Ideally you would add an elite defensive big who functions offensively more as a rim runner OR pick and pop guy (think Anfernee McLemore but taller hopefully) as well as a combo guard in the Denver Jones or Samir Doughty mold

Have we heard the NCAA will grant him a waiver?

I would agree with this. But if he doesn't hit the portal within a day or two, you have to think the staff is working / willing / wanting to keep him.

It would also mean he is taking self responsibility which would be a big time positive

By all accounts (inside and outside of the program) this past year it was middle of the pack in the SEC. It sounds like we are finally rewarding Bruce for delivering and it will be in the upper tier of the SEC this year.

I know Hoke isn’t exactly a fan favorite, and I’m with most on that but he’s tight with Steven and other basketball staffers and he’s said they’re getting a nice bump in their NIL budget. As always, take all that with whatever sized grain of salt you choose.

Can anybody do the work on remaining portal targets and give us an idea? What big fish are even still out there? I know the ASU guy has been mentioned but he will be coming ACL surgery.

As it stands today we have 40 minutes open at the 5 for sure, as well as 10-20 minutes at every other position.

Walter Clayton Jr wasn't even a top 50 transfer prospect so I'd take any big/small fish claims with a grain of salt.

I believe the bump we got has put us in the top 3.

Bruce makes his bones on small school guys...

Johni - Morehead St.
Denver - FIU
CBM - Juco
Chaney - D2

In fact, look at the AA teams and where they come from...

When listing our the roster next year you forgot the Bashir bro. He's as good of a shooter as there is.

Its basically going to come down to can we find a starting 4 and 5 who are good enough and does Pettford come back and take the next step as a PG or do we have to go find another PG. Get those and we can have another good year.
