I seriously doubt players have time to hop teams. Practice has already started.

They can, but they wouldn’t be eligible to play in games until January.
I’m under the impression Keyshawn Hall is gone. Tahaad is 50/50.

If so, that will pretty much tank the season, and make Bruce's decision to leave even more bizarre as it will setup Steven for failure.

Keyshawn did practice today, fwiw, but I’m leaning towards him leaving.

Going to practice isnt the behavior of someone trying to leave.
We know that much.

I think Keyshawn Hall will be at Pro Day and has not entered the Portal (Hokanson). I personally think he stays. We are paying a boat load of money and he would not be eligible until January if he left.

On one hand, I see why he chose to leave when he did as others have mentioned...to ensure the position for his son (although I think that was decided/agreed upon long before) and to keep the staff and players. But if players still leave, that certainly could jeopardize Steven's first season's success. Although, I can't help but think if he had retired in the spring, the attrition would have been much greater.
I think you have to look at Bruce's decision with the knowledge that Steven was going to be hired regardless of the retirement announcement timing. And with that in mind, I think the announcement time was probably the best (under the circumstances).

The whole team minus Pettiford had to graduate after the season when Bruce should've announced his intentions. Then it wouldve been a fresh start and Bruce could've gotten a ceremonial good bye going out as far as on the top as he could. His actions in September took away the departure he deserved and also revealed what other fanbases say about him is true. He is slimy. I never saw him act slimy until the end so dont know why he had to do that and screw his farewell up.
Steven should've not been hired as HC regardless of how much we appreciate his dad. The timing of the announcement forced Auburn's hand... so dont start some BS narrative.

quote:Didn't think I was starting a narrative. I get you don't like that Bruce retired in Sept and Steven shouldn't have been given the job but that is exactly what happened and it was planned that way. So acknowledging that it was planned, the options do start narrowing a bit on when you do it.

Yes, there were other options on his retirement and hiring a new coach but those were taken off the table with the understanding that Bruce planned his retirement and Steven would get the job. I'm not saying it was the right way to do it, I was just offering two possible scenarios under the information we have.

I would have to think the university had some idea this was a possibility. It's a dirty way to do the players though.

If they leave, they have to pay back NIL money. They weren't going anywhere
Posted on 10/1/25 at 11:42 am to AUCE05
They will have to pay back NIL, they will have to find a decent team with a roster spot open and comparable NIL money available (because they would actually need the money to pay off AU), and that team would have to be okay with them not being eligible until January, which by that point the conference schedule is starting.
I'm not saying none of them will go, just that they have a lot stacked against them if they make that decision.

Curious where this is coming from. I haven't seen anything about him even considering transferring.

I’ve seen photo evidence of Keyshawn at pro day today. So I guess things are going well there.
Haad also there.
Magwood is the truth as well!
