If we bring in a guy like Austin Davis, then why can't we just throw some money at Dell McGee and let him coach RB and just give them Co-OC titles? We have to get some recruiting. We would lose an Auburn guy that everyone loves at RB coach, but we would be getting an Auburn guy that is light years ahead as a recruiter.

Some of y’all read the Rant too dang much. You do realize we gonna be in the top 4 or 5 in conference for recruiting right?

What?
Who has Caddy brought in besides Tank? Is he that great of a coach?
Dell can bring home more than just one big recruit. It’s an AU guy replacing an AU guy so I don’t feel that evil for thinking it.

You realize this past season was only his 2nd full year, right?
Not to mention he went through a staff change and was the only one kept on.

Hell, give Dell WR and tell potato boy to go back to the analyst room. We have to get difference makers as recruiters if we are to compete in the SEC.

We just assume dell would come here to coach rbs or Wr? And be co oc?

Just wishful thinking I guess. Does basically the same at uga. Just throw money at him.

let's put somebody at a position who has never coached that position at any level.

I agree. We are also going to need quality coaches to coach them up once we get them.

We are about to Hire Austin Davis at OC. I would rather bring Dell home. GA takes a hit and we have a coach and a recruiter that knows the game in the SEC. I am beginning to think the Potato Posse may be in over their head.

Someone on here has been trying to bring Dell home, every year we have a new OC to hire.
It ain't happen. Just take 2 pills and call me in the morning.

Actually, we would be hiring Austin Davis to primarily coach QB's (this is what Bobo coached) while also coordinating and being groomed into play-calling duties while Harsin calls the plays (or shares those duties). I don't get what comparison you are trying to make or what your point is. If Harsin is involved in playcalling, then the need is at QB - which McGee doesn't coach.
Furthermore, I'd bet any amount of money that Austin Davis is a more competent candidate to be groomed into actual OC duties than Dell McGee is. Nothing in his resume suggests he is an "OC", otherwise why hasn't someone else given him that role in order to steal his recruiting prowess? I mentioned the comparison before, but "Dell McGee as OC" is becoming synonymous to people wanting to hire Rodney Garner as DC...because he recruits well and sometimes develops DL well. Rodney Garner couldn't coordinate his way out of a wet paper bag.
I've heard more on Davis: Pete Carroll thinks extremely highly of him. He is regarded as one of the biggest up and comer's in the NFL (hence why he was the youngest QB coach in the league when hired and why he was able to ascend so quickly to that position after retiring from playing). He is believed to be extremely highly regarded in the state of Mississippi. This would be a big upside hire on a young NFL guy who is actually from the South and who should be massive for QB recruiting.

Dell wouldn't do it. Craig might for a huge salary and a bullshite co OC title

Look no further than Gustavo for a prime example of this...

Sounds a lot like Michigan’s DC this year. A young NFL coach that had only coached a position, but Harbaugh’s brother told him he was a bright minded coach. Worked out pretty well for Michigan this year…

Really need someone that can recruit. Right now, that may be more important than coaching.

Hoke reporting that Harsin had a formal interview with Austin Davis today. Expects him to be offered this week and would be "very surprised" if he's not the OC.
