Did you even read the article?

Anyway, I agree with the author. I don't care how much money you have, if you aren't a part of the AD, you shouldn't have a say. Greene should have the final say with consultants and analysis.

That’s some top-notch editorializing with zero substance.

I’m not saying that it’s not 100 % true or false, but it’s message board level rumor passed off as news.

I guess if KS isn’t hired the Auburn media chicken-littles will have to come up with a shared narrative on how it didn’t happen.

When the "Good Ole Boys" remove their cash from the Auburn program and take their money and go home, y'all are really gonna enjoy the low prices for tickets and entertainment in Auburn on football Saturdays.

But I'm sure you lovers of purity and perfection will be there to replace it... right?

I am sick of reading this “rumor soap opera” about our big money guys.

Let me spit some facts:
1. Big programs need big wallets to have success.
2. Every big wallet wants a say in where his money is spent.
3. Every big wallet wants more power than the big wallet next to him.

If any of the big wallets had the power that these “stories” claim - we would not be reading about it. Because, the big wallet guy would find out who leaked it and prevent any further access to the program in the future.

Auburn is a big business with several big wallets that all want something different. I expect that will always be the case until Tim Cook starts donating 50-100 million per year and then we have 1 wallet to make all the decisions.

Eh, Shea is just regurgitating what is being said on The Bunker and online. She’s an elementary school teacher and not a trained journalist. So take this article more as a blog post. She’s also young (like early 20’s) so would have been, what 10 during Jetgate.

That said, she’s not wrong. My only point is there are no original thoughts presented here.

This and this. I read where they asked Cristobal about his contract extension and he said "Knight, the administration and I are discussing it". Course Phil Knight has given the school upwards of 800 million bucks so he has a say, a BIG say in who the coach is.

You people act as if our boosters want some loser to be the coach, and have not watched the product on the field.

Interesting side note. I graduated Auburn in 82. I has at the school's alumni office doing some research and they told me how there was a direct correlation between football success and donations, not just the big donors but overall. Many did not go to football or athletics but to the schools as well. Logic was, they were Auburn grads, football fans, the success had given them interest in the school, but they felt athletics did not need the money as much as the business, vet, etc schools.

My point, you need the big boosters for success, and success brings in everyone. The world is not black and white fellas, there is a lot of gray in all decisions.

This. And for all these media shitheads implying that it is somehow running rampant at Auburn while the big name boosters at every other big time football program just write their annual checks and kick back and watch the games on Saturdays is a bunch of bullshite.

Boosters everywhere want to feel important and do that by spending big money to get in with the people that matter around the program. And the people that matter give the boosters access to keep the money on tap. They both need each other. This isn't something that is wholly unique to Auburn yet our boosters seem to be the ones that the "journalists" put right in their cross hairs every time a coaching move is made here. It's beyond ridiculous.

Let’s see, expensive tickets for mediocre performance or inexpensive tickets for mediocre performance, right?

What’s wrong with asking for competitive performance for expensive tickets?

Let’s see. A woman, four years out of school, spending Monday to Friday each week herding forth grade cats.

Doesn’t take long before you think and act like the herd.

That makes perfect sense. But it leaves the question (assuming the boosters have run amok again)- how is it that Auburn has a reputation that others schools don’t for the boosters getting out of control? What do the rest of the big 6 do differently as far as dealing with these forces to avoid it being their reputation that the boosters irrationally run the show?

Not saying she isn’t an idiot. Just saying that the guys pulling the strings are making bad choices. Those bad choices are expensive for us, the fans that are collectively spending more than the guys pulling the strings

Why do you think the media is picking on Auburn? Or could there be some truth to the point there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians?
