First year staff could’ve just not run off Mason.
Instead the staff just wanted a downgrade in performance and an upgrade in cultural fit

Yea, our old OC had a ton of SEC experience and sucked. They either can do the job or they
This. Harsin may wind up being a terrible recruiter and a failure here long term, but it has zero to do with where he's coached or his assistants have coached, you can either recruit or not.
Urban Meyer had zero ties to the south and was an awesome recruiter at Florida. Saban had zero ties to the south before LSU and obviously recruited just fine. Good recruiters are going to get it going quickly. Next year's class will tell us what we have with Harsin, he's had time to build relationships with this class, so there are no excuses.

Why the roll eyes? He left because he didn't get along with Harsin.
So you admit they upgraded! Ha!

According to Marcello as read by Cubekic he disagreed with Harsin on a football philosophy level and on a personal level.

AtoZ is a d-list Nashville thing… I’m sure they loved mason bc of vandy, even tho he was a total disaster as a HC.

Let the downvotes rain, but I think this is good, in the long run. Mason called horrendous defensive schemes in several games. Notably, Penn State and Ga. State. I'm sure there are others, but I've blocked out a lot for my own psychological health. In fact, when Bobo was fired, my thought was Harsin got rid of the wrong coordinator, and I was no fan of Bobo. Let's face it, Gus left the program in shambles, Bobo and Mason were quick hires in an attempt to save some of the recruiting class. Mason is way more suited for the Big 12, where defense is an after thought.

Mason should have been fired after the MSU/USC debacle

Who knows what BS Mason suggested that Harsin had to veto last season!

Mason strikes me as a standup guy that did well on the field and in recruiting.
Look at our best recruits. What side of the ball? Our most success? What side of the ball?
No, but I’m not holding that against Mason. It’s a strange thing to hold against Mason.

I wouldn’t say total disaster. It was still Vanderbilt after all.

Keep up the good work guys!

Yeah, I don't understand why people are so upset that Mason is gone. I fricking hate his bend but constantly break defensive philosophy.
I've been bitching about his defense all season. I hope OSU can score 50-60 points game because they are going to need it.

Amen
Goodbye Derek, so long, c'est la vie.... don't let the door hit you on the way out. Remember bend don't break if it looks like it's coming too hard.

Auburn’s defense was 27th in the country in scoring defense
It’s hilarious how yall (YOU) struggle to reconcile simple facts that don’t bend to your perspective.
