His perimeter D will give him a chance at a long career. Great size and length for a guy at the 2 in the NBA as well as lateral quickness and instinct. His remarkable shooting improvement from freshman to sophomore year is what got him on scouts radar coupled with the defense. If he makes more strides there he’s potentially a high pick.
He's also not a very good dribble drive player. His size will help him, but I agree, I see G-eague with him, unless he is used as a guard stopper on D, and just for some minutes.
He will play better in the NBA's open court offenses...

I went to go post there and I’m banned for some reason.

Whoa whoa we have a solid team. Yes Jabari is a lock for a top 5 pick. Probably the number 1 overall. Walker is a 2nd rounder as he’s played so far but any improvement and consistency scoring he could rocket up. Alan I don’t think gets drafted this year unless he becomes another 15 point a game scorer and shoots around 35% from 3 and 80% from FT. The rest we will have to see. I could see Alan and Walker coming back next year as well

Wanted to post this last night but didn’t want to be a Debbie Downer. We need Zep to be able to score a few points against very good guards. We need to have his defense on the court and not be a liability on the offensive side.

Didn’t you go over there when we flipped their commit and took Ausberry?

Or more simply, just need him to hit 38%+ of his open threes. That makes him able to stretch the floor on O and harass ball handlers on D

I'm pretty sure we would be the favorite in all these games outside of @ bama. If we get by them and win the others. It would put us at 22-1 (10-0) it's not unrealistic. Could it be enough to get to #1 ?

Walker Kessler is averaging a triple double in SEC play. Thoughts?

He’s projected as a 2nd round guy with a chance to go undrafted if he comes out this year. That could change if he continues to develop at the pace he has so far this season. He needs to add strength and become consistent in his outside shot to have a chance in the league.
Right now, I think both he and Flanigan would benefit from coming back, but I can’t fault anyone for chasing the dream.

I think Alan may have to return he isn't listed on this years mock draft boards probably because of the injury so unless he just goes almost off on multiple game and in the tournaments he may not ever get back into a second round grade. He is mocked as the 33rd player in the 2023 draft class.
Kessler is lower to middle second now. Depending on how much more he can show that he can do. If I'm here I'm not sure I leave for a 2nd round contract because I think he would be a Top 15 for 2023.
There are much smarter guys with more information about draft stuff for basketball then me. But have to remember there are only 60 spots a year.

Most sites have factored in last nights game now.
NET #6
KenPom #8
RPI #3
Reminder the RPI isn't the standard that it used to be. The NET ranking is what the tournament selection committee uses and in reality the only ranking that really matters.

quote:Its not crazy that Kessler would come back. He has the same game that Rudy Gobert had coming out of France, and he spent two years getting stronger in the Jazz development system.

Rudy Gobert is an NBA All-Star and NBA defensive player of the year. I bet most of this board doesn't know Gobert. Kessler is probably more athletic generally but is the same guy physically as Gobert was at 20 years old. The issue is that there are only 3-4 teams in the NBA that would want a guy like Kessler. I would LOVE for him to play in Utah.

I think anyone who even remotely keeps up with the NBA knows who Gobert is, especially after the COVID thing

I just lol’d thinking about the whole Gobert COVID thing.
I agree with Zep disappearing offensively against quality opponents. My favorite offensive lineup so far would be Green/Berman/Flanigan/Smith/Kessler
