Well I mean, I don't believe the basketball program is in a bad place. Jury is out on football. Greene is going to make or break himself with this hire. Honestly don't pay attention to the other programs, so can't really comment on those. I'll take anyone's word for it.

The biggest difference between then and now is Bruce and Butch are still solid while WBB and Gus are fired. Future is brighter than 2012’s even though strangely we went to the NC in football in 2013.

I believe I read the S&D guy is gone too.

People don’t like the who gives a frick sports and that’s fair because I don’t watch them. I am still envious of the Stanford’s and Florida’s that have well rounded athletic programs

Man, this is such a fricking garbage take. I worked for WEP, so I watched pretty much every game that was played on campus, and softball was the second best ticket you could get in Auburn. It's so much more fun than boring-arse baseball. It's much faster paced, and they actually have fun playing, unlike the stoic baseball players that have to sit stoned face until the end of the game because of horse shite unwritten etiquette rules that have only recently been challenged.

In fact, I would watch all the women's sports over baseball. They're fun as hell if you'd actually watch them.

"Still solid" but both their respective programs are in the bottom of the league. Not sure how to take that.

I dont know crap about Butch but his baseball team is dead last. Bruce, who I really like, has been at Auburn since 2014 and his program finished in the cellar of the SEC last year. He has had some great ups since he has been here which has been fun as hell but why are we back in the cellar? Team was hard to watch

Womens basketball was a joke when Green arrived. But instead of going to get a coach, he resigned the same lady that was running it and she continued to fail.

Football could be better but also could be worse. Who knows at this point. Spring game looked bad but it was a practice.. We will see how it looks in September.

I don’t know what is going with the baseball team. This is their worst year under Butch, so I don’t know if this year is just an aberration.

As for Bruce. He has been handcuffed in recruiting by the NCAA investigation, and by the GLeague constantly poaching our main targets, thus we have to rely on transfers a little too much for my liking. We also have a problem with keeping the few studs we get at Auburn for more than a year, in Okeke’s case, two years. Bruce has to figure out something to make his program gel because he is constantly SO close. If we could’ve just retained two out of the three in Cooper, Thor, and Powell, we would’ve been sitting pretty next season. If we could’ve just paired up Cooper with Jalen Green or Kuminga we would’ve been sitting at the Cusp of a great season as well. In summary we can’t give up on Bruce because we know what he can do if he gets the roster he wants. Last year was frustrating but we were already ineligible anyway. Next season can be frustrating, but I still don’t know how you can give up on Bruce.

As for the WBB coach, that was an eff up by Greene.

Combination of having a team of seniors the prior year and then having to build a young team during COVID which proved to be difficult by all of the young teams struggling, including the blue bloods.

COVID excuse is out the door this next year. Assuming we land either Scoot or KD then this team has no reason to not be in the top part of the league.

ETA: I’m with you on the WBB and baseball situation. He should have pulled the trigger on WBB sooner. Also Butch takes the fall for the baseball team for sure. We should have been no worse than 6th in the league.

Good point. I believe we replaced six seniors/starters back to back years.. We were extremely young and inexperienced last year. It showed. We were really frustrating in Bryce Brown’s freshman/sophomore years. We need continuity badly yet Bruce is somewhere in no man’s land by landing a few one and done players but not reaping enough of the recruiting tailwinds that come with churning players to the league.

... and getting screwed by the NCAA with Sharife and by lack of backbone Powell (or his dad).

yea, I know the reasons but all teams deal with the same situations. Plus, the NCAA stuff happened under his watch so he is responsible and must work with it.

Not downing Bruce but it is not like he just started at Auburn. He has been here for 7 years which is long enough to keep us out of the cellar. He is a better coach than that

I haven't. I think it will always be a up and down thing with Auburn regardless of the sport. It always has been

I don't get the dissatisfaction with basketball. Bruce isn't above having a rebuild year and that's exactly what last season was.

We're coming off the best stretch in our history. Have a little patience.

I agree 100%. We also had No Cooper for a big chunk of the season and no Powell. I guess the biggest knock against Bruce last season was no better plan at PG. That's the main thing that was lacking.

Pearl did keep us out of the cellar. Have you ever looked at the standings? We were just 1 or 2 wins from being in the upper half of the league.

When you see blue bloods like KY and DUke not even making the tourney, and having poor records, then you know that this year was an aberration.

If we have Sharife all year and Powell too, we win maybe 4-5 games, which in a year we totally replaced our whole starting team, then we finish where we thought we might.

The ONLY part I can agree on is that Pearl should have brought in some veteran transfer guard(s) to have good depth.

No dissatisfaction. Hopefully as we get better, we wont fall as far and we wont rebuild the entire team at once. And hopefully keep the program off probation
