My wifes aunt sent me this in the mail this week. I havent seen this picture in years. Its the front page of the Birmingham News the day after the 1982 Iron Bowl. The "Bo over the top" game. Auburn hadnt beaten Bama in 10 years.

The dude on the goal posts without the shirt on is me. My wife (same one I am married to now..) had to work. She graduated 1 year before me. So I went to the game alone. Found friends, and partied like a mofo in SEC style. Sorry...not Sorry. I am pretty sure I am the reason they raised the drinking age from 18 to 21.

Yep. Me and about half a bottle of jack Daniels. The only reason my wife’s aunt kept the paper clipping was that her son was the starting DE. My wife’s cousin.

Wife worked for taco casa in Auburn and graduated a year ahead of me. Worked local waiting for me to get my arse out of school. Couldn’t get off for that day so I wound up going to the game alone.

Only half?

I’d make that into a FatHead and put it on every wall of my man cave if I were you

Half was all I could get into legion field. Blee meee. I found da rest later. I’m from Georgia and wasn’t really familiar with how bad Bama people hated Auburn. I remember vividly telling a gas station attendant on hwy 280 back to Auburn we had won. The look of disgust I got surprised me. I have remembered that ever since

That. Is. Awesome.

Best post in the history of this board IMO. Ever.

I have a lot of crazy celebratory stories I could tell, and I'll throw out a few now, but yours takes the cake, lol. Love it.

1. After the 2010 iron bowl, I drove from my parents house in orange beach who I watched the game with to NOLA and had the MC and DJ let me get up on stage and act a fool while playing "All I do is win". Obviously that did not go over well, but I raised hell up and down bourbon till sunrise screaming war eagle, frick bama, etc.

2. Was at a packed bar in west palm beach with an AU buddy I went to school with, his wife (gf then), couple of other girls and dudes for the 2006 AU vs UF game. When we won, we started Bodda getta, war eagle, glory glory to ole Auburn and wouldn't stop. All hell broke loose and we were tossed out in the street by the bouncers, found a new bar and shut it down too. Great night.

3. 1989, first time ever, went with my dad and grandad. It was before my time at AU, but 3 generations of eventual alums and an experience like no other.

4. 2010 BCSNCG. Was in Miami and literally had tears coming out of my eyes at a bar when the game ended. My buddies (non Aubies) were like what the hell is wrong with you. They went home. I managed to bounce from bar to bar until sunrise on a Monday somehow. Was just pure euphoria that lasted for days. Just such a long time coming and frick all the 2010 haters.

And hate to throw this one in there, but...

After the BCSNCG that didn't happen, I got back to Vegas from Pasadena around 1am, stumbled out of somewhere the next morning around 9am, missed my 11am flight, missed my flight the next day, then finally made it back on Wednesday. Sorta lost my mind for about 48 hours after that game was not played.

Anyway, GOAT pics for our Aubie board IMHO.

I was in orange-and-blue in the stands playing the music y'all were celebrating to.

Unfortunately, if memory serves we weren't playing the Reverse Rammer Jammer back then.

By the way, nice Thanksgiving Weekend shorts.

That’s amazing. I dreamed of being a part of a goal post tear down but blew my only chance not thinking we could beat UF in 01. Will never forgive myself.

BTW, as the band buses were heading back down the highway to Auburn (and when we got back Auburn and Toomers Corner were still ROCKIN'), a car passed us with part of one of those posts tied down to the roof of their car.

If that was you and yours, Pav, I will worship you forever.

You cant mention the shorts without absolutely giving respect the high tube socks. Finishes the ensemble beautifully.

I was there, and I remember you. I was in the end zone stands cheering you on

I was working for FM97 in Opelika and got off for the game - somehow I knew we were breaking that damn streak that day and I had to be there. Unfortunately I had to work the midnight shift so I had to head back in the middle of the celebration.

Bet I crossed paths with your bride-to-be several times too - minimum wage went a lot further at Taco Ca-Ca ("There's a spicy little spot in between mild and hot where you're sure to get a lot of what you like")

A giant walks among us - War Damn Eagle my friend!!
