Ah come on man. This isn’t the beginning of the season. It has NOT gotten better at all.

You think it's funny and yet I can point you to dozens of quotes from elite 2023 recruits who can't stop talking about him,
I would rather we be in marathon mode not sprint mode. Besides I don’t put much weight into what recruits say cause we all know they do crazy shite.

He would DEFINITELY take the state of Georgia by storm in recruiting.
On a side note, I find it fascinating at how the teams that have recruited Georgia so well have won just about all the Nattys the last 2 decades. Only exceptions being LSU and Ohio St.

quote:Gus also changed the game of football with his HUNH offense. He got Saban to run it, NFL teams to run it. Hell, the NCAA had to implement rules just to stop him. Problem is, he didnt know how to adapt his offense and defenses caught up to it
Gus had coached under several good coaches BEFORE becoming an HC. Don't act like Gus jumped from high school to college HC like Sanders did.

That's one of the greatest posts this board has ever seen.

Harsin won the Sunbelt at Arky St in one year he was there as head coach. He had 10 win seasons 5 out of 7 years at Boise St. When he was OC at Boise their record was 61-5. Hardly a flash in the pan.
In the 12 years, under 2 coaches, before Harsin took over Boise had 3 seasons where they lost 3 games. In Harsin's 6 full seasons he had 4 such seasons. They didn't completely fall off but he was definitely overseeing a decline.

quote:Hate to burst your bubble, but being a great player doesn't often translate into being a great, or even good, coach. The opposite in also true. You'd have to be pretty simple minded to pick a guy who was a great player, over a guy with a track record of making good players great. Don't think for a second, that will be pointed out in all those "living rooms".
Deion Sanders is in the NFL Hall of Fame, dawg. He's in the College Football Hall of Fame. He can tout his two fricking Super Bowl Rings. He literally appears in the commercials alongside and opposite Saban, he has already been marketed as his peer even by TV conditioning.
quote:
And guess what, he is respected enough and would be able to hire "some of the best" OC's and DC's too.

quote:
You also shouldn't discount the advantage he would have when entering the living room of any black or inner city family. The guy played for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves - the likelihood of a recruit's father from the state of Georgia having fond memories if not idolizing him in the 90's is very high.
quote:You'd have to be one dumbass father, to push your son to play for a guy you admired for his athletic ability as a player, go to a school with a pretty bad reputation for academics, over a guy who can get you to the NFL, put you on national tv every week, and provide a good education. The difference between Travis Williams and Sanders is, one sells his school and program, the other sells his self. Twitter handled on the back of your gameday coaching gear says it all.

Saban can flash rings, tout his 3 Heisman players, and show a recruit how many HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS his former players have made in the NFL. Saban can also point out that his OCs and DCs were some of the best in the business.
Nick Saban can do that to any "normal" coach.
Deion wouldn't be competing on the same metrics - his pitch would be more personal. I suggest watching some of the posted Deion speeches. He's actually pretty impressive and I guarantee he would recruit his arse off at Auburn - mark this post and I'll happily eat crow if he gets hired and doesn't recruit well. Again, I really suggest people watch some of his speeches and the way he connects with players.
Deion would say something like "I've sat in the same chair you're sitting in right now. Nick Saban doesn't care about you. Nick Saban only cares about his football team and himself. Nick Saban doesn't care about your struggles, your family, or your people because he hasn't been there... he hasn't been through what you've been through. I have.
I can get you to the next level because I've done what you're trying to do. I can show you what it takes to build you into the football player and the man you can be. We're about to do something special at Auburn."

I was sorta against Deion at first, but have warmed up to it. He would bring instant media recognition and would be talked about constantly. AU would be a media darling for not only hiring Deion but for hiring a black head coach. Recruiting would instantly hit top 3 nationally without a problem.
Deion isn't dumb and knows he needs a good staff. He would have the checkbook to do it. If Deion lets his coaches coach, delegates authority, and serves as a manager, it would work very well I think.
Finally, I almost hate to see him leave JSU. He has had a major impact on the school (not just in football). Watch the 60 minutes episode on it.
