Just one more solid 3* and we will bust the top 50.

Excerpt from an Athletic article on the differences of Alabama and Auburn recruiting the state. Please keep in mind….the state was loaded with talent this year.
quote:
How would you describe the way Auburn recruits your players??
Coach 2: I gotta be careful because I don’t want to get hung out here, but Bryan Harsin hasn’t been to our school. He’s never been here. That’s been a surprise. They’ve got a lot of outstanding recruiters on their staff, though. I think that (Harsin) has put together a good staff. But I don’t know the head coach there.
Coach 3: I think they do a great job. With us being close, it allows them to see them a lot too. I think they do a really good job, and I think it’ll continue because our kids know most of the coaches that are there.
Coach 6: (Offensive line coach) Will Friend does an excellent job. (Running backs coach) Carnell Williams is good. They’ve got a lot of outstanding young coaches. I think they’re going to do well, but I don’t know their head coach at all. Nick Saban comes to our school every year — every year he makes a trip to our school, whether he’s recruiting a guy or not.
Coach 1: Honestly, they do a poor job in recruiting. I’ve never met the man (Harsin) in person. I do want to meet the guy because I think a lot of my kids could play at Auburn. But just as a rule, they just haven’t done a very good job recruiting our kids.
Coach 4: I took a player down there that had some good offers, and I don’t think they realized who he was. But I’ll tell you something cool about Harsin, which is probably not the popular thing right now. I talked to that joker for about 45 minutes on the phone. That’s not something you see coaches in Division I doing. You don’t see any head coaches doing that really. I thought that was really cool. I thought he did a good job.
What’s the biggest difference between Alabama’s recruiters and Auburn’s??
Coach 1: Boy, you’re going to get me in trouble. The biggest difference I guess between Alabama and Auburn is every time there’s a permissible time for Alabama to be out recruiting, they’re out recruiting. Every permissible time. And I don’t know that Auburn is doing that right now.
Coach 5: (Auburn) should be more aggressive at my school.
Coach 6: Alabama is constantly evaluating kids. They’re always a year ahead. They’re recruiting a year ahead. It’s amazing.
Coach 2: I don’t think there’s a lot of difference. I think all of them are good recruiters. I think they’re good guys. I think Alabama’s becoming more of a national brand, they recruit nationally. Auburn’s trying to recruit the Southeast. I think that Alabama is going to get kids from everywhere. I think they stretch all the way from the East Coast to the West Coast. Because everybody wants to play where they have a chance to win a national championship. I think that Alabama does a great job. They’re gonna go after those four- or five-star kids. And then, you know, of course, Saban does his due diligence. If there’s a three-star and he’s really, really good, he’ll go after those guys. He does a really good job of not missing too many times on kids.
Coach 3: The glaring thing is to me is recruiting is the lifeblood of your program, and I think that knowing the importance of recruiting in the SEC and knowing how it works, and I think that I just think there’s a stark difference between Alabama and Auburn. You have to know the backroads and know how to get into places. Knowledge of the SEC and how the recruiting world is is more important now than ever.
Coach 4: At the end of the day, I think Alabama has just, you know, they just stay ahead of the curve on everything. And not just in recruiting. In everything. The consistency is amazing to me. They’re a machine.

This is really disappointing to read. This is what the difference between good and great coaches are in this league. The great ones are always working. I know we heard this early and it made some sense then but for it to still be a thing is embarrassing

Haha. Glad we don’t play Wake Forrest. They would crush us.
That is how bad it is.

Jones, shouldn’t be surprised. Not ignoring Covid, but he did not get out to see many coaches/schools til this winter.
He should have been tired as hades last fall getting in schools and making himself known. I get u have games, so get a Copter like CKS if one has too.

Yeah that’s why I said it made sense in the beginning. If Saban has time to visit schools every year, despite if he’s recruiting a guy there, then Bryan Harsin sure as shite has time
And I’m guessing these aren’t little podunk coaches being interviewed.

Wow. I think I'd rather they call him a weird a-hole than absent. At least then you could assume he's at least trying to do his job.

Agree and knowing the competition he should have been wearing out the roads.
I think CKS was smart when he let Rocker go after not getting DBrown. Kind of put everyone on notice

I cannot believe what I'm reading. This is inexcusable.
You get an opportunity to move from Boise State to Auburn University as the head football coach and there are coaches in your new state that still say they don't know you and have never met you.
Hold on one sec while I pick my jaw off the floor.
