Good to see you back, Freep. You disappeared for a while after Freeze was hired.
I've been around.

I'll go on the record that I'm still pretty disgusted with how it all went down. Freezus was a lazy, unimaginative hire at a time when we really needed a homerun. Him getting the gig was the most Auburning thing ever. Bringing the Tuohys to his presser was a classic tone-deaf move. And I'm still got my concerns over the whole Jarquez sex tape thing.

That said, he's handled himself and the rest of the program better than I expected, and his baggage hasn't adversely affected recruiting as much as I thought it would.

In the end, I'm an Auburn Man, no matter how foolish the university and its representatives appear, so I'll still be cheering this fall against my better judgement.

Unfortunately the shameless scramble for the almighty dollar is rapidly wringing any nostalgia I have for the sport. It's hard to remain loyal when your loyalty is bought and sold to organizations that are intent on making the games unwatchable.

WDE anyway.

Curious how are they making the games "unwatchable"?
Yes the money and greed is everywhere but it is possible to forget that somewhat when you are watching an exciting game.

To break up the circle jerk around here.... I think its interesting that we tried Miller at RT and Britton and LG yesterday. Don't exactly love it. I hope it was something they we're just looking at in case of injuries.

Whether we like it or not, change is coming and the US is a consumer based economy. People love to spend money if they can afford it. Once the playoffs expand to 12 and we have 11 playoff games instead of 3 now, the exposure and spending is just going to go nuts when the odds of a team getting in increase. I would also love for the time when I had a flip phone and didn't have to worry about responding to Email or Teams notifications all day and night, but there is no going back.

Even if people can’t afford it they’ll still spend their money

He was asked about by a reporter. He didn't bring the Tuohys to his presser.

Not at all Freeze related.

I agree with everything else.

That I didn't know. Not sure if that was controversial at the time.

I don't think the games have become unwatchable but they have lost at least a little bit of the magic. All of us old timers (I mean, I'm literally 30) complaining about the sport we grew up loving disappearing due to NIL, realignment, transfers, etc. see that seeping into the passion, pageantry around the game a little bit. The games are and still can be good and entertaining but when you don't have 3-4 year relationships with the players, have traditional rivalries being eroded, and players generally being in it for themselves rather than the sum of the parts (which, I don't blame them, I would be doing the same things!!!) how could it not affect the games themselves?

Auburn made the games unwatchable with the Gus and Harsin hires. Hugh is making it fun again and we haven’t even played a game. Great recruiting=Wins

Still fun, but lets be honest, you are going to have to print out a roster this season

What? Not only has recruiting not been adversely affected, it is the Best recruiting since Trooper/Looper. Our average player ratings are top 5. We are getting more 4 and 5 stars than ever.

Freep had a good post and youre not even saying anything that he disagrees w/. I dont know what you are "what"ing but I don't like your tone.

Well except for the last part, many might disagree with that. You really think we are getting more 4 and 5 star than ever before based on half the class? We were ranked 6th in the nation in recruiting in 2020.
