I agree. These guys are mediocre at best. They lack talent, like most of our OL.

I think it's important to note that even the strong finish was largely on the defensive side of the ball. I think the only offensive player we "closed" with was Camden Brown. You know, because we missed out on Clemons at the last second.

do you think it could have had anything to do with getting the NFL evaluations and them not liking where they stood?

No, I don't, because neither of those two guys had "NFL evaluations" whatsoever. Troxell has had like 4 knee injuries, can barely move, and graded out as mediocre at best all season long - he wasn't waiting around to see if he'd be a high NFL Draft pick before announcing he'd come back.

It has nothing to do with being a "high NFL Draft pick". It is about what round they were graded at. If the NFL sent back they think they were going undrafted, why not come back for one more year?

They also might have girlfriends on campus still. I agree, Meta. Just two dudes that like playing football and are happy to come back and play if asked by the staff.

Troxell might be closing in on a PhD

Not sure about evaluations but PFF had Brahms 14th at center and I don’t remember Troxell’s but it was middle of the road.

Obviously PFF isn’t the ultimate say. But I can’t imagine a team taking a chance on Troxell with a pick given all the injuries. For a guy that had to sit and watch a lot of football games at Auburn I’m sure he’s excited to put together a couple of seasons in a row on the field.

Talked about this in another thread but I was more surprised about Brahms. He’s a guy with a well publicized career on hold but his girlfriend/fiancé or whatever might still be in school. And as mentioned before, Jahlil Irvin didn’t look any better

The sweet irony if we get the QB that left Oregon because of Bo.

From Rivals: On Caden Storey

The 4-star DE from Lanett, Ala., remains committed to Auburn but told our Clemson site (TigerIllustrated.com) that he's set up official visits to Clemson (1/21), where Nick Eason is now the DL coach, and Florida (1/28).

I might legitimately take a week break from this board if that happens I don’t think I want to deal with the ripple effects of your war path

Troxell would absolutely get an undrafted grade.

But here's your problem: they can't just come back unless they have a spot and scholarship to come back to. My whole point was the staff obviously recruited transfer OL's. Now it looks like none of those guys are coming. Then, immediately after it becomes apparent that we might get no one this go around, our completely forgettable 10th year "starting OT" announces he's coming back. He wasn't waiting around for an NFL grade dude; Derick Hall announced he was returning on like December 30th and he's an actual NFL prospect.

What it likely was is simple: they wanted to upgrade through the portal so the staff never promised a guy like Troxell that he'd even have a scholarship. Then they miss on the transfer portal targets and now all of a sudden bringing Troxell back is looking more desirable.

Troxell doesn't need ~3+ weeks to figure out that he's not getting drafted in the NFL . His injury history is horrendous and he's not even good when he does play. C'mon man.

Okay, someone give me intel on Robby Ashford.

I know he was QB for Hoover High School. Obviously signed with Oregon to play two sports. Dual threat guy.

Did he focus on baseball more than football at Oregon?

He kinda sucked at baseball at Oregon numbers wise. He couldn't beat out a QB that was basically Bo Nix. Realistically, chances are low he will ever contribute at QB here.

Great athlete, could play the slot or TE. Questionable attitude. That's the only reason I think Harsin would be looking at him. I'm sure the B'ham peeps may offer better insight.

Didnt all seniors have a free year of eligibility, and their scholly would not count against the 85 for this one time off "covid" year?

He was already behind Butterfield and Thompson as well. I feel like he was out no matter what

Well, the good news is that he has 4 years left. He’s essentially an incoming HS freshman.
